Expert Analysis

Marinos scored twice for Slammers today in a 3-1 win against an excellent Hawks side. Her first was an excellent finish that she hit with her left foot right into the top left corner of the goal from just inside the 18. The second goal came on a lovely through ball that she got on the end of where she calmly rounded the keeper to a straightforward finish. She has speed and skill that she will be taking to Stanford next year.

She was also selected to play on the U.S. U-16 team at UeFA Friendship Tournament in Riva, Turkey. Marinos is a standout player who can contribute to the attack with strong shots on goal while making runs into the 18. Marinos stood out for So Cal through their time in Seattle, particularly since she boosted her club to double digits in the goals department. Only two other sides netted more than the Blues, and with Marinos in the front line, that could ultimately be the case in Richmond this week as well.

plays as a forward for So Cal Blues SC G08. Marinos shows early in games that she is a game changer in the attack for this team. She is fast, creative, brave and shows confidence in her abilities on and off the ball. She has great positioning and is dangerous with the ball at her feet. Marinos can take players on when played to her feet but she also can get in behind back lines on through balls. She has great movement to get involved and shows she has power in her shots. Although she is a quick player in the attack, she also takes the corners for her team which she does well at. Overall,

Most teams send multiple defenders to stop Marinos. It works, sometimes. There were moments at the club level when it felt like Marinos went 1v4 in the attack. She has the quality to pull that off, as she shrugs off defenders with ease and then smashes the ball into the goal. Any fear about that not translating to the next level has been put to resst during the winter. The talented So Cal Blues forward is already making a big impact at the high level. She is averaging a goal per game for JSerra – the team’s leading scorer at this point.
