Bonner tested off the charts in the speed rating drills at the start of the camp. She has a quick burst, top end speed, and great agility. She’s a modern center back who can cover the whole field and chase forwards into the channels.

She brought that elite athleticism to the full-field game. She built a brick wall and denied the opposition with her terrific defensive play. Bonner has elite upside for the center back position.

During the training sessions of the Prep Soccer Girls ID Camp: SoCal 2026, Vanessa clearly stood out from the jump. At the speed station, she clearly had one of the fastest timed runs on the day. At the 3v2 stations and small group sessions, she was difficult to get by on defense. Not just based on her 5’9″ stature, but also on her ability to quickly cut off running lanes and make calculated stops when runners tried diagonal or overlapping runs in the attacking third. Her strength and power were also visible as she won most 50/50 challenges. Vanessa has had recent success with her Legends FC team, but I believe the best is yet to come. She should get looks from USYNT scouts in the near future, as she’s a player with a huge upside.

Bonner is a center back on the Legends FC 2011 ECNL team. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. She was also called into the U14 GNT West Regional ID Camp in February of 2025. 

She is a rangy center back who can do-it-all. She’s excellent on the ball and makes good decisions on when to progress the ball up the field. She’s a creative passer and finds a variety of ways to break down the defense. 

Bonner is a fiercely competitive player who has shown the traits to be considered among the elite in the state in her role.
