The sophomore had another solid match in front of Klein’s backline, playing with great energy on both sides of the ball. Delatorre worked hard on defense in her central midfielder and won several duels in the middle. Because of the high quality of Tomball Memorial’s midfielders, she couldn’t always win the ball back, but when she didn’t, she was able to put pressure and put them back or to wider positions, where they would be less of a threat. Delatorre also did a good job with the ball as, although much of her team’s game plan was to get long balls to Olivia Knight up top, she knew when to slow things down and keep possession with her solid passing.

An outside back with her club team, Delatorre played as a central midfield with Klein and was one of the foundational pieces of the team that advanced to the Cougar Bracket final. She was very active in the center of the field, playing with great energy on defense, covering a lot of ground and helping the team in possession. Delatorre was very good at getting away from pressure with quick moves and connected excellent passes, most notably getting two assists against Cinco Ranch. She was also very dangerous on set pieces and scored an “Olimpico” against Lake Creek.

Delatorre and Challenge SC G07 have Sporting Columbus, Sporting Blue Valley and Ohio Galaxies FC in their schedules this week in St. Louis. The team’s starting left back, she’s a lockdown defender, who will make what it takes to win the ball and stop dangerous plays. Delatorre takes pride in her defensive skills and is a master in the art of slide tackles, always timing her moves well and getting the ball. She’s also a very consistent player, who supports her team’s offense with quick runs out wide and smart passing.

Typically deployed on the left side of Challenge SC RL G07’s backline, Delatorre is a very strong fullback, who brings a lot to the field. She’s extremely solid defensively, thriving with her good positioning, excellent timing for tackles and hard work – her sliding tackles, in particular, are always very efficient. Delatorre is also very prolific in possession, having the ability to quickly move the ball upfield by dribbling it or connecting good passes. She can also be an offensive threat in more than one way, sprinting through the sideline to make crosses or coming inside to work in combination plays.
