As many as 64 teams were on the field during the three days of action and the eight Bracket winners were known on Saturday – A&M Consolidated, Cedar Park, Katy, Clements, Bridgeland, Kingwood, Fort Bend Austin and Canyon Lake.
Prep Soccer got to attend six matches from four different brackets over the weekend, getting a good look at 12 teams that took part in the tournament. This week, we’ll highlight some of the most promising prospects we watched in action and these midfielders did a lot of work for their teams:
An outside back with her club team, Delatorre played as a central midfield with Klein and was one of the foundational pieces of the team that advanced to the Cougar Bracket final. She was very active in the center of the field, playing with great energy on defense, covering a lot of ground and helping the team in possession. Delatorre was very good at getting away from pressure with quick moves and connected excellent passes, most notably getting two assists against Cinco Ranch. She was also very dangerous on set pieces and scored an “Olimpico” against Lake Creek.
Highlights
Magnuson was one of the most creative players in her team A&M Consolidated, which won it all in the Spartan Bracket. She was great at driving the ball forward and found great success with her dribbling, beating opponents and creating space to continue pushing the ball to the goal. Against Clear Lake, Magnuson was particularly dangerous when she got the ball on the left and brought it inside to her preferred right foot. Her vision also allowed her to make the right call around the penalty box and she created chances with her excellent passing.
Hernandez was the engine of her team Atascocita that competed in the Falcon Bracket. She ran a lot in the center of the field against Lumberton and was heavily involved on both sides of the ball. Hernandez worked hard to win the ball back and when she did it, she immediately turned defense into offense. The dynamic midfielder was very hard to dispossess and displayed a diverse offensive arsenal, using both feet well to dribble, pass and shoot. Hernandez was very dangerous around the penalty box because of her ability to beat defenders and a lot of Atascocita’s offense was run through her.
Tiger Bracket winners Katy owe a lot of their victory to Stevens, as she was a big part of their success playing as a central midfielder. She did very good defensive work alongside fellow midfielder Chaila Ruiz and was also very involved in the team’s chance-creation. Stevens’ passing was very accurate in their match against Clear Springs and on several occasions, she managed to break pressure with one-time passes. She was also very good at identifying vulnerable spots on the backline, initiating plays through the middle and then overlapping on one of the flanks to get the ball back and cross it.
Taylor Millard
Taylor Millard
Although her team Clear Springs had ups and downs over the weekend in the Tiger Bracket, beating LaPorte 6-0 and losing to Katy 6-1, Millard established herself as a strong presence in the middle for them. Playing in front of the backline, she was very active defensively, using her physical tools and reading of the game to disrupt offensive moves from the opponents. Millard also did a good job in possession, seeing the game well and finding good passes to get the Chargers out of pressure. The most interesting asset in her game was, perhaps, her ability to hit the ball with power and precision as she was in charge of every set piece, from goal kicks to corner kicks, and scored against Katy in a long-distance free kick.
Brooklyn Worsdell

Worsdell played a big role for St. Agnes Academy and helped the team make it to the final of the Tiger Bracket. Playing at the base of their midfield, she offered great protection to the backline, making interceptions and physical stops in the center of the field and also covering on the flanks when needed. With the ball, she kept her team in a good rhythm, connecting good passes and making the ball move forward in each of them. She was also very good with her set pieces and two of the team’s three goals against Clear Springs started with corner kicks she took.
Ariana Weiss
Ariana Weiss
The most offensive-minded player in Tompkins’ midfield, Weiss had a major impact on the team’s chance-creation and helped them appear in the Falcon Bracket final. Although she wasn’t always very consistent, the attacking midfielder was a difference-maker when her game was on, lining up more on the left and orchestrating the team’s offense. Weiss didn’t need a lot of space or time on the ball to create chances against Summer Creek, often beating opponents with quick moves and finding teammates in good spots with one-time passes.
