Hernandez was the main playmaker for Challenge, and almost everything the team created in the match went through her. The attacking midfielder was closely defended by Sting Austin , but did very well with her off-the-ball movement and consistently found ways to get on the ball. Hernandez made some strong runs on the ball through the center and the flanks and also stood out with her passing, setting Babajanov up to deliver the assist in the team’s second goal with a perfect through ball. The midfielder also showed good energy to play defense and fight for the ball in the center of the field.

In a match in which Challenge struggled on both sides of the game, Hernandez was the player who took the best care of the ball. She started the match playing as a forward, and didn’t get on the ball in great spots, often having to work with her back to the goal and with an opponent pressing her, but didn’t lose possession. Hernandez moved to the midfield in the second half and got more involved, at times dropping back to get the ball from the defenders or even the goalkeeper to initiate plays. She distributed the ball well, making some nice switches on some plays, but didn’t get much help to turn possession into real chances.

The sophomore is the engine of the team, keeping their rhythm intense with her high-energy game in midfield. Hernandez covers a lot of ground on both sides of the ball and is very good at dribbling the ball forward through the middle, using her pace and ball control to do it. She’s also extremely well-versed in the final third, always picking the right options and finding teammates in good spots to finish – she had seven goals and seven assists last season. Hernandez likes to get in behind opposing backlines and does and excellent job of staying onside – she’s also very calm and efficient with her finishes. The midfielder also contributes defensively, playing with great energy off the ball and helping her team regain possession.

Hernandez is a key piece for her Challenge SC 09 team, which will be tested against Rockford Raptors, Internationals SC and NC Courage this weekend in St. Louis. She has a lot of weight in the team’s offensive attempts, playing centrally as either a second forward or an attacking midfielder. Hernandez’s runs through the middle often result in Challenge’s most dangerous opportunities as she’s able to dribble the ball very efficiently. Very technical, she’s a threat in the final third with her ability to pass and finish chances, but also contributes defensively, putting pressure on opposing defenders and tracking back to help her team defend.

Hernandez could put together quite the highlight reel from the ECNL playoffs with her performances in Washington. There was a lot to love about her showing in the final against Minnesota Thunder. She is so active on the ball in just subtle movements to create space to receive the ball. She rarely loses possession but when she does, the switch is immediately on and she hustles in the counter press to win it back quickly. Hernandez is going to be a star in this game for a long time. She’s smart on the ball and has shown to be one of the best midfielders in the 09 age group with her performances this season.

Hernandez was Challenge’s most active and productive player in the match. Playing in central midfield, she got on the ball a lot and did a good job of pushing it forward with her ability to dribble in traffic. At times it felt like she was looking for a teammate to combine in the middle and didn’t get much help, she still found ways to connect good passes in the final third and fire a few dangerous shots, most of the time in transition plays. Hernandez also covered a lot of ground defensively and played with great intensity without the ball.

Playing as a box-to-box midfielder, Hernandez is the engine of the Lady Eagles and a key piece in their playing system. The freshman covers a lot of ground in midfield and is heavily involved when they have possession. Hernandez works hard doing some defensive work next to defensive midfielder Caitlyn Traisclair, but is even more productive when she has the ball and needs to bring it upfield. The midfielder is very skilled on the ball and can progress on the field by beating opponents off the dribble or with good passes. She’s also very dangerous around and inside the penalty box, often getting involved in the team’s goalscoring – she has three goals and an assist in 2024.

Hernandez was the engine of her team Atascocita that competed in the Falcon Bracket. She ran a lot in the center of the field against Lumberton and was heavily involved on both sides of the ball. Hernandez worked hard to win the ball back and when she did it, she immediately turned defense into offense. The dynamic midfielder was very hard to dispossess and displayed a diverse offensive arsenal, using both feet well to dribble, pass and shoot.
