Marino and her Challenge SC G09 team will be tested against NC Courage, NVA and Charlotte Independence in the showcase. An extremely intelligent and well-rounded player, she can play different roles in midfield, but is at her best when used more centrally, where she can feed the forwards with direct passes. Marino’s high soccer IQ allows her to thrive in tight spaces and not spend much time on the ball, often making things happen with first-time passes and quick plays. She’s also very committed with the defensive side of the game and works hard and plays with intensity off the ball.

Even though Challenge couldn’t find the back of the net against SLSG, Marino had a strong performance for them, operating as their main playmaker. She played two different positions for the team and was very active in both of them. Marino started the match playing more advanced, almost as a second forward, and was very efficient at receiving passes with her back to the goal and holding the ball. Later, she moved a few steps back, getting on the ball facing the goal and did a good job with her distribution and finding some nice passes behind the backline. The midfielder helped the team on defense too, winning some duels in the center of the field.

Marino will be with Challenge SC RL G09 in the U15 Premier division. She’s a central midfielder who combines quality on the ball and a high level of intensity, being able to contribute on both sides of the game. As a freshman, she’s been a regular starter for A&M Consolidated and has been helping the team be at the top of the standings in their district. Marino is very calm on the ball, operates well under pressure and is capable of finding smart passes to keep the ball moving. She can also be a goalscoring threat with her ability to finish from outside the penalty box.
