Prep Soccer was in attendance during the first two days of the event and we were able to watch eight different teams compete -Eisenhower, Fort Bend Clements, George Ranch, Memorial, Royal, Shadow Creek, Seven Lakes and Tompkins.
Several prospects stood out in the matches involving these teams and we’re going over each of them during the week. With goalkeepers and center backs already covered, let’s now jump to fullbacks:
Braylon Le Braylon Le F TX
Braylon Le Braylon Le F TX
A forward turned into fullback, Le was one of the most solid players in his Tompkins team. Although his offensive instincts were evident every time he pushed forward and by his ability to progress the ball, it was his defensive game that stood out the most. Le is excellent at defending his space on the right as he has both the size to win balls in the air and the pace to chase wingers in wider positions. He did an excellent job of keeping opponents under control on his side of the field and often tucked inside, almost as a third center back.
Fernando Lazo
Fernando Lazo
A very technical and dynamic player, Lazo did a great job on the left side of the field for Seven Lakes. He’s a very good passer, who likes to connect with the midfielders and play one-two as he progresses down the sidelines. Lazo is a phenomenal crosser, who can both time his passes and find his forwards really well inside the penalty box. He’s also very difficult to beat on defense because he plays hard and has the pace to recover when he’s beaten off the dribble.
Ernesto Hernandez
Ernesto Hernandez
Hernandez played on the left side of Eisenhower’s backline and showed great capacity to play as either a center back on a back three or as a right-footed left-back. On either role, he will be a very solid and consistent player, who does excellent defensive work. Hernandez reads the game very well and knows how to intercept low and high passes. He’s also really tough to beat on 1v1 plays. Offensively, he does a good job when on the ball and is great at identifying the best moments to push forward.
Charly Lindley
Charly Lindley
One of the top players in his Memorial team, Lindley is a versatile player who can produce anywhere across the backline. I’ve watched him play both as a center back and a right-back and he did a very good job on both positions. Lindley is very reliable on defense and that’s mostly because he likes to keep things simple and avoid unnecessary mistakes. His size also helps him in the air. He also displayed some good offensive instincts and physical strength to push forward.
David Michel
David Michel
Another player capable of playing different roles on the field, Michel was used as both a center back and a left-back for George Ranch. His excellent positioning and great athleticism help him make good plays on defense, but he can also contribute on offense. A lefty, Michel has good technical skills when on the ball and, as a kicker for the Longhorns football team, he has tremendous kicking power and precision, which he uses on set pieces.
