Aggieland Friendship Cup – Day 2 Standouts

One of the most traditional preseason tournaments in Texas, the Aggieland Friendship Cup ended on Sunday at Veterans Park Athletic Complex in College Station.   As many as 164 teams from different regions of the Lone Star State got on the field under extreme heat as they looked to finalize their preseason preparations ahead of the start of their leagues in the next few weeks, and Prep Soccer Texas was present.   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/2026/08/aggieland-friendship-cup-day-2-photos/">Aggieland Friendship Cup - Day 2 Photos</a></li> </ul>   <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-instagram wp-block-embed-instagram"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://www.instagram.com/p/DcZo92ejvIK/?img_index=1 </div></figure>   We covered the matches held during the morning on the second and last day of action and got to watch as many as five duels in different age groups. Now, we'll feature the players who, for many different reasons, caught our eye in those matches. [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] U15 3 - 2 Sting Royal RL U16    Ngumbu was a key player in Albion's offense and a difference-maker in their hard-fought victory. Combining pace and physicality, she was a nightmare for Sting's defenders, keeping them under pressure with her plays on the wing and through the center. Ngumbu was very good at getting to the end of long passes, and thanks to her well-diversified game, she thrived both in space, making direct, strong runs, and when trapped in the center of the field, showing solid creativity and quality with her dribbling. The forward created some chances for herself, but also showed good vision to feed her teammates with nice passes in the final third.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0024_e67a5e.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385642" /></figure>    Fisher was one of Sting's most active and productive players, being an important piece in their offensive system. She was primarily a left winger, but circulated all over the attacking half, showing good quality to make plays and create chances. A lefty, Fisher was very good at beating opponents in tight spaces and did a good job of consistently getting involved in the team's attacking plays. She surprised opponents with quick, first-time passes and helped create chances with solid consistency.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0011.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385636" /></figure>   [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] U16 8 - 0 [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'] RL U17    Sadlowski was excellent in Albion's comfortable victory, playing a central role in their strong offensive display. Playing more to the left side of their attack, the forward made things happen every time she had the ball, finding great success when she made runs behind the backline or faced defenders 1v1. Sadlowski also thrived as a playmaker, dropping into the midfield to get on the ball and facilitating plays with nice switches and through balls. Even with a comfortable scoreline, she kept her work rate extremely high, pressing opponents and remaining committed defensively.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0033_dd0e46.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385644" /></figure>    Nunez was very active in the center of the field for Albion, taking great care of the ball and delivering intensity on both sides of the game. The midfielder was excellent at combining with her teammates in quick exchanges and disorganized the Texans' defensive system with her constant movement off the ball. She also scored Albion's last goal in the match with a beautiful left-footed shot from outside the box. Nunez also contributed defensively, helping her team crowd the center of the field and playing with great energy and discipline.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0039_be7b6b.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385646" /></figure>   Solar SC U19 3 - 0 [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] U19    Gannon was a key cog in Solar's strong offensive display, playing a central role in their attacking system. She featured as an attacking midfielder and played the role very competently, providing the team with with excellent passing and a strong presence in the final third. Gannon made some strong runs through the middle and was very difficult to disposses, covering ground in no time and shielding the ball extremely well. The attacking midfielder also did a good job of finding space to get on the ball between the lines and fed her teammates with great passes in the final third.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0082_64f810.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385662" /></figure>    Despite the defeat, Reddick did well in Albion's backline, standing out for her high energy and defensive solidness. Playing as a right back, she had to deal with many attacking plays in her zone and did well for most of the time. Reddick was very firm with her defensive efforts and worked very hard to stop plays and keep opponents away from the box. Despite being busy in her own half, the outside back still found the time and the energy to push forward and delivered good crosses into the box.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0071_e9135b.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385658" /></figure>   [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'] U14 1 - 0 [program_tooltip program_id='283457' first='San' last='Antonio City SC'] U15    Perez was really impressive in the Texans' victory, standing out against older and much taller opponents. San Antonio City's defenders chased her for the entire time with very little success, as her quickness and ball control were too much for them. Perez spent most of her time in the attacking midfielder role, but also played as a forward and moved everywhere on the field to get on the ball and make plays, showing no sign of being tired. She was extremely intelligent with her playmaking, releasing the ball at the right times, and fired some dangerous shots on target.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0110_1b9e24.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385671" /></figure>    Jones was San Antonio City's main playmaker and was involved in most of her team's attacking plays. She played more to the right side of their midfield, and was very active there, consistently looking for the ball. Jones showed good ability to drive it forward, making a few dangerous runs down the line before crossing it into the box, but also showed the ability to create chances with her passing. The midfielder was also very committed defensively, dropping back and helping her team fight for the ball.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2026/08/2J4A0113.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-385672" /></figure>   Sting Black U16 3 - 1 [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'] Red U16    Verre scored Sting's first goal in the match, setting the path for their victory over Lonestar. The midfielder was very active when the team had the ball, always looking to get involved and to connect with her teammates in the center of the field. Verre did very well in the play in which she scored, attacking the space vacated at the heart of Lonestar's backline with a strong run and getting the ball past the goalkeeper with a well-placed shot. She was also dangerous when making runs on the right side of Sting's attack.     Caulk came in during the first half and added a lot of strength to the right side of Sting's offense. Playing as a wingback, she had the green light to push forward and made the most of it, being an excellent option for them out wide. Caulk did a great job of stretching the field and was very aggressive on the ball, combining with her teammates to get to the end line.
