Set to take place at the Premier Sports Campus, in Lakewood Ranch, the event will have teams from the U16, U17 and U18/19 age groups, with as many as 230 sides making the trip to Florida to get some high-level competition early in the year.
Several clubs from Texas will be in action too, as Albion Hurricanes FC, Dallas Texans, DKCS, Solar SC, Sting Austin and Sting Dallas will be represented in the tournament, sending 14 teams to the event.
Here are five Texas goalkeepers who could have strong showings this weekend:
Orta will be in goal for DKSC G08 when they face Indy Eleven Pro Academy, WNY Flash and Ohio Premier this week in Florida. She’s extremely reliable between the posts and likes to keep things simple and, because of that, she deals with long-distance shots very well. Orta is also brave and quick to leave her spot when attackers are coming her way, finding ways to expand her range by extending her arms. Her skills on the ball are well above average for a goalkeeper, which allows her to connect great passes out of the back and also to create space to break pressure.
Highlights
Tetmeyer is a big part of a strong Sting Austin G08 team that will be faced with FC Stars Blue, CESA Liberty and the Wilmington Hammerheads during the event. She has established herself as one of the top goalkeepers in the country and was with the USYNT in the summer. The goalkeeper uses her length well to cover a big area of the goal, has amazing spatial awareness and will catch everything that goes her way, be it a long-distance shot or a cross. Tetmeyer is also very quick to step forward and stop plays when under pressure and is solid with her feet.
Set to play the Wilmington Hammerheads, Michigan Hawks and World Class FC in Lakewood Ranch, FC Dallas G07 will have one of the best goalkeeper duos of the entire event with Gutierrez and Olivia Geller Olivia Geller 5’9″ | GK Southlake Carroll | 2025 State #56 Nation TX . She recently came back from knee surgery and has been in great form in the ECNL Texas Conference and has been playing with the same determination and passion of always. Gutierrez is very quick with her decision-making, reacting in no time to shots and crosses, and very reliable with her actions. She’s also very calm and confident on the ball.
O’Steen and her team Solar SC G07 will be tested against three tough opponents in PDA Blue, United Futbol Academy and the Wilmington Hammerheads. A USYNT regular, she’s vastly considered one of the best in the country and is playing one age group this season. Tall, athletic and very quick to the ball, she has the entire physical package to shine between the posts and still adds to it with unwavering focus, great determination and an imposing presence between the posts. O’Steen is extremely reliable and gives her team a lot of confidence. She also played for several years as a field player and is very clean on the ball.
The only Texas team in the U18/19 division, Sting Dallas Black G06/05 will meet Match Fit Academy, FSA FC and Heat FC this weekend in Florida. A new face with the team this season, Finley immediately became their starting goalkeeper, making of the Dallas side a very tough one to score at. She likes to keep things simple and uses her excellent range to make stops and get to difficult balls. Although her positioning and length allow Finley to make saves look easy, she’s also explosive enough to make big-time stops, especially in key moments.
