Prep Soccer will be following the action closely, following multiple matches every week and reporting on the players having big roles with their teams and helping them succeed. As part of our coverage, we will also preview some matches we believe have the potential to be highly exciting and here is our pick for Tuesday, January 23:
Ridge Point vs. George Ranch – 7:15 Pm @ Ridge Point HS
Ridge Point
The winners of District 20 in each of the last seven seasons and top-three finishers at the State Tournament in 2022 and 2023, Missouri City’s Ridge Point are a force at the state level and have one of the most talented squads in Texas. The Panthers started district play on fire, beating Fort Bend Bush 10-0, Hightower 6-0 and Dulles 9-0 ahead of Tuesday’s encounter.
The team has a solid backline with sophomore Ryann Dedmon Ryann Dedmon D Ridge Point | 2026 State TX and juniors Emma Lovell, Allison Wilson and Kelsey Vaughn Kelsey Vaughn D Ridge Point | 2025 TX . Junior Laurel Kelly is extremely creative and can be dangerous playing out wide or more centrally, where she gets to combine with fellow junior Camryn Letellier. Up top, senior Dayo Tennyson is an excellent finisher and also a strong playmaker with her pace and dribbling ability.
George Ranch
Richmond’s George Ranch made it to playoffs last season, but couldn’t get past the bi-district round, where they were faced with a strong Seven Lakes team. Entering Tuesday’s match, the Longhorns have played two district matches and got wins over both Fort Bend Austin (2-0) and Forte Bend Travis (2-1).
Senior Mackenzie Smith is one of the best goalkeepers in the district and gives the team a lot of stability between the posts. Playing in front of her in the backline, senior center back Mea Daul provides a strong presence in the air. She’s shielded by her sister and fellow senior Clara Daul, who covers a lot of ground in midfield, and sophomore Claire Brian. In attack, senior Krystin Moore and freshman Alexis Lacombe Alexis Lacombe 5'7" | F George Ranch | 2027 TX bring a lot of pace on the wings, but also good finishing ability.
