Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Dedmon moved up in the Rankings and is now the 15th-best defender and ranks 53rd among the class of 2026 prospects in Texas. Originally a center back, she can also play as an outside back with her high school team, Ridge Point, and her club Albion Hurricanes FC U19 in the ECNL league. She has all the tools one would want from a center back, combining tremendous athleticism and superior positioning. Dedmon is probably at her best when used in the center of a back three, where her ability to cover ground makes the most impact. The defender is also very comfortable on the ball, often supporting the offense with strong runs through he middle, and has a strong aerial ability, which sometimes leads her into playing as a striker in the final minutes of matches when her team is trailing.

The junior and Ridge Point’s backline weren’t much tested against an opponent that almost didn’t have the ball, but she was always there when that was the case. Dedmon’s athleticism helped her shut down any attempts made by the Lady Bulldogs as, when she wasn’t in a position that allowed her to anticipate the long passes they made to get on the ball, her pace gave her the edge over their forwards and helped her control the space behind her back. The center back also contributed to the team’s buildup by connecting good passes out of the back and, at times, dribbling the ball forward to add an extra body in the attacking half.

Ridge Point have plenty of excellent options in the backline, but regardless of who’s on the field or which formation the team uses, it’s Dedmon who anchors it. A center back who combines extraordinary physical tools, a very high soccer IQ and a solid technical foundation, she’s really difficult to get by. Dedmon is probably at her best when used in the center back three as she’s excellent at covering her teammates and has the mobility to track attackers in deeper positions and keep them under pressure. The center back also has a lot of quality on the ball, taking part in the team’s buildup, and a strong presence in the attacking penalty box, often scoring goals in set pieces,

Despite the defeat, Albion’s center back duo of Dedmon and

was among the team’s top performers. The two defended the penalty box very well and only saw the opponents score in an unlikely shot from distance and a penalty kick that was called after an unlucky touch in the arm of a defender. Dedmon used her physicality to dominate opponents and remained efficient even in the final minutes, when she had to almost defend single-handedly as Albion charged forward for an equalizer. She had some good runs with the ball and displayed a strong presence in the penalty box in set pieces.

Dedmon is a talented center back playing for Albion Hurricanes FC ECNL 08. She’s one of just a few players in the position who are equally comfortable defending inside and outside the penalty box. That’s because Dedmon is strong enough to dominate opponents with her physical game inside the penalty box but can also chase them in the central area of the field thanks to her impressive athleticism. The center back is also known for her ability to make runs through he middle, dribbling the ball through opponents to help her team offensively. She’s very strong in the air too and can make a difference attacking and defending set pieces.

With 13 clean sheets in 16 matches, the defense has obviously been one of Ridge Point’s main strengths and it couldn’t be any different with their strong back three formed by Dedmon,

and Allison Wilson. Playing the center, Dedmon has been in excellent form, giving the team the stability it needs to perform. With her athleticism, she’s very good at covering her teammates and defending in the air. Because of her mobility and her ability to put pressure on opposing attackers, the sophomore also often detaches from the backline to chase attackers outside the penalty box. Dedmon also has good quality on the ball, occasionally scoring goals for the team.

Playing in the middle of Ridge Point’s back three, Dedmon also had a very strong performance against George Ranch, helping her team get the clean sheet. She had great chemistry with fellow center backs

and Allison Wilson and, as the most athletic of the three, was typically the one with the freedom to step up and chase opponents in the attacking half, a task she performed with great efficiency because of her ability to put pressure on opponents. Dedmon man-marked George Ranch’s striker Kacey Ehlen in portions of the match and did a very good job of keeping her away from the penalty box.

Dedmon will be one of the pillars of the backline of Albion Hurricanes G08 when they play Concorde Fire Premier, Ohio Elite Soccer Academy and Tennessee Soccer Slub this weekend. Extremely physical and versatile, she can be used at right back or in the middle of the backline as a center back. Dedmon is very athletic and uses it in her favor, putting pressure on attackers and pushing them away from the penalty box. When in possession, she’s known for her pace and her ability to push the ball upfield down the right flank. Because of her size, Dedmon is also very effective in defensive and attacking set pieces.

A versatile player who can be used anywhere across the backline, Dedmon offers great tactical flexibility to the Panthers. She spent more time at right back last season, but will likely be deployed more centrally in 2024, forming the center back duo with Allison Wilson. Dedmon reads the game extremely well and is also excellent at analyzing opponents and making choices that will make them uncomfortable against her. She’s very quick and physical, which means that the slightest of hesitations gives Dedmon enough room to make a play and win the ball back. She’s also a solid player in possession, dribbling the ball forward with intelligent and connecting good passes out of the back.

A freshman, Dedmon was a nice addition to a strong Ridge Point team that played in the State Championship game just a couple of weeks ago. Extremely versatile, she can play as an outside back or in a more central position and thrives in either role. Dedmon plays with a lot of energy and is very good at quickly understanding how to deal with each attacker that goes against her, often using her impressive athleticism to beat them and win the ball back. She also has a lot of quality pushing forward, combing good pace and great quality on the ball.
