DFW, TX: The start of the new year marks the return of high school soccer in Texas. After an entertaining pre-season, many programs are set to begin district play this week. So far this season we have seen a lot of high scoring games around the region, especially on the girls side. Year in and year out, the 6A Girls group is stacked with great players, but there seems to be a deeper than usual pool of talent across the metroplex, giving the 2023-2024 season the potential to be one of the most compelling and high scoring contests we have seen in a while. Before district play is in full swing, we wanted to look at who some of the top attacking teams in DFW to watch this season are in Girls 6A.

ALLEN

Once again Allen High School has found themselves at the top of most pre-season rankings going into the 2023-2024 season. One of the reasons that the expectations for the Eagles in 2024 are so high is the amount of offensive firepower they have on their squad. Allen's attack is centered around their star striker, Junior and UNC commit [player_tooltip player_id='26516' first='Ava' last='McDonald']. Ava's supreme talent and goal scoring prowess has earned her the #1 ranked 2025 forward in Texas, and a top 11 national ranking as well. Allen features several seniors in their attack who add versatility, depth, and leadership to their gameplay. Senior and FAU commit, Sutton Markee, is a goal-scoring striker who is very dangerous inside the 18. A pair of senior forwards, Oklahoma Baptist commit Sam Sheffield, and Southern Nazarene University commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26881' first='Katelyn' last='Beard'], round out the college-level talent Allen has at the front. Allen also gets great offensive production from their midfield, which is anchored around Junior and Boise State commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26829' first='Jillian' last='Anderson']. Jillian has a powerful strike and will score goals from distance. Another key player to mention is Junior and Alabama commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26405' first='Alexa' last='Barker']. Alexa is a top 5 ranked defender in Texas, but she is often used up top or in the midfield for Allen as well. She is a dynamic and gifted player that can play anywhere on the pitch.

SOUTHLAKE CARROLL

Anybody who has paid attention to girls soccer in recent years will know that Southlake Carroll has been one of the most talented teams in the country. The Dragons will be missing several players who have been central to their dominant run in the past few seasons, but with so many highly ranked players returning to the Dragons for 2024, they remain at the top of the preseason rankings. Southlake will be looking to Junior Penn State commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26768' first='Hannah' last='Jordan'] to be a major source of offensive production this year. Hannah is usually a midfielder, but she has the goal-scoring instincts to play as a striker. Another key player who can have a major offensive impact is senior DBU commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26337' first='Kenzi' last='Tufts']. Kenzi is a great as a winger, but she also has the versatility to play and make offensive contributions from any position on the pitch. Southlake will still have one of last year's great play-makers, [player_tooltip player_id='26863' first='Kamdyn' last='Fuller'] return for her sophomore year. Kamdyn was an important attacker last season, but will have a bigger role to play for her Dragons in 2023-2024. Additionally, Southlake will have some young talent coming into their team this year in freshman [player_tooltip player_id='112555' first='Brady' last='Burtnett'] and [player_tooltip player_id='148431' first='Ava' last='Sexton']. Both of them are highly ranked 2027 forwards who have the potential to come in and have an immediate impact for the Dragons.

KELLER HIGH SCHOOL

Keller's attack features one of the most prolific strikers in the state in their Senior and A&M University commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26783' first='Holly' last='Storer']. Holly is a true goal-scorer who is near the top of the list of potential golden boot winners in 2024. Fellow Senior and Dallas Baptist University commit, [player_tooltip player_id='143640' first='Skylar' last='Belanger'], alongside Senior Sloane Sullivan, will provide versatility and depth to the offense, and both players will be key to Keller's success in 2024. Another player that can have an impact going forward is Sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id='27201' first='Riley' last='Hewitt']. Riley's natural position is in the back four, but her versatility and skill set make her capable of putting up solid offensive numbers.

HEBRON

Hebron has a mix of talent on their roster this year- including a solid group of younger players who have loads of potential going forward. The Hawk's attack will be led by Sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id='26833' first='Jordan' last='Hill']. Hill has been climbing in the rankings since her stellar freshman year and will be coming into the 2023-2024 season as the #2 ranked sophomore forward in Texas. Another key part of Hebron's attack is Junior forward, [player_tooltip player_id='21272' first='Layla' last='Thompson']. Layla's speed and quality in front of goal have landed her in the top 10 ranked 2025 forwards in Texas, and has made her an essential part of the Hawk's front line. Hebron will have important leadership and experience coming from Senior and Lamar University commit, Jacey Beer. Jacey is a midfielder who excels at facilitating the attack, and often finds ways to get herself on the score sheet. Another player who can have a major impact for the Hawks offense is Junior outside back and Michigan commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26623' first='Chloe' last='Nugent']. Chloe is a gifted outside back who is great at getting involved in the attacking third.

MARCUS

With last year's state title in their trophy case, the Marcus Marauders are going into the 2023-2024 season with high expectations. They have some big holes left by last year's seniors to fill, especially up front with the absence of their top goal-scorer. Luckily for Marcus, they have several high-caliber attacking players who are ready to step up. The 2023-2024 Marauder attack centers around an excellent pair of forwards who both had breakout seasons last year. Sophomore, [player_tooltip player_id='85949' first='Madi' last='Patterson'] is a dynamic, play-making forward who can be the difference maker in any given match. While Madi is a top 20 ranked forward in Texas, I personally think she is still underrated. With all Madi achieved as a freshman, she definitely has the potential to become one of the state's top forwards. Next to Patterson at the top is Junior striker, [player_tooltip player_id='26342' first='Maddie' last='Hayes']. Hayes is a pacey and agile forward with a high motor, solid strike, and fantastic penetrating runs and movement off the ball. Hayes and Patterson play off of each other very well, and the duo makes a very formidable attacking threat. Junior, Emma Fioretti Is another solid piece of the Marauder's attack who proved her worth last season as a 1st Team All-District forward. Behind the front line is Senior midfielder, [player_tooltip player_id='26436' first='Allie' last='Williams']. Allie might not score the most goals from her more defensive midfield position, but she plays a vital role in facilitating the attack.

PROSPER

Prosper also has a number of highly ranked players in their squad, including several that will be playing D1 college soccer after graduating. Headlining the Eagles attack in 2023-2024, is Senior and Samford commit, [player_tooltip player_id='26573' first='Brooklyn' last='Miller']. Brooklyn is a dynamic player who can play up top or in the midfield, scoring goals no matter where she plays on the pitch. Further adding to the quality of the Eagles are two Junior D1 college commits, [player_tooltip player_id='54813' first='Olivia' last='Hess'] (Texas Tech), and [player_tooltip player_id='27187' first='Reagan' last='Roberts'] (LA Tech). Olivia can play in the midfield, on the wing, or up top and is likely to provide numerous assists in addition to goal scoring. Regan Roberts brings a tremendous amount of versatility to the Eagles. She is a great winger who has the ability to also succeed as an outside back. Another talented attacker for Prosper is Sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='112751' first='Isabella' last='Wilson']. Isabella solidified her place in Prosper's attack last season as a freshman and she has all the potential to make a major impact in 2024. Senior striker, Schuyler "Skyler" Yaroma, is another player to keep your eye on for the Eagles. Yaroma is excellent in front of goal, and was voted the offensive newcomer of the district in her first season with the Eagles. Lastly, you can't discuss Prosper's offensive play-makers without mentioning their standout senior center-back and captain, Beya Rosales. As a defender, Rosales scores quite a few goals and excels as a target on attacking set-pieces.
