Below is a scouting report on a few of the forwards to know from this group.
Wakefield is a forward on the Ohio Elite 09 ECNL team. She is a center forward with the quality to play as an attacking midfielder as well. An elegant player on the ball, Wakefield combines her skill with a laser like precision in her movement to create space around the box. Wakefield’s quality off the ball continues on the defensive side. She’s an effortless runner who closes ground in the blink of an eye. She offers the quality pressing – both in terms of effort but also in how she cuts off options in the angles of her run – that makes her a highly regarded prospect among forwards.
Andrews is a winger on the Internationals 09 ECNL team. She plays on the right wing. She is a two-way player. She can defend well in 1v1 situations. Her main contributions are in the attack. She has the pace to get behind the defense. She is also a nifty dribbler who can work out of tight spaces.
Zawaly is a winger on the Kings Hammer 09 ECNL team. I’ve seen her play on the right wing. She had a strong outing during the recent National Event in Florida. Zawaly offers a great player profile for a winger – she has the pace, skill, and determination to shine in that role. She can finish chances and also create for her teammates. Zawaly’s defensive effort is also noteworthy as she is willing to work back and help out her sideline back possession of the ball.
Highlights
Wesolowski is a winger on the Ohio Premier 09 ECNL team. She is also on the Dublin Jerome varsity team. Wesolowski is a player that coaches want on their teams. She can force the action to happen with her determination. She has good skill on the ball, but she does have a tendency to try to dribble through players too often. It works for her now – at both the club and high school level – because she is rarely matched for strength or speed, but it will be harder to pull off in the future. Wesolowski has great instincts around the game and has shown the characteristics of a striker who is always looking for a chance to score. She is a top forward in this class.
Hughes is a winger on the Cleveland Force 08 ECNL team. She has been called into US Youth National Team Talent ID events in the past. I’ve seen Hughes play left wing, but she could play on either side of the formation. She’s an exceptional two-way player. Willing to get stuck in on the slide tackle, Hughes is a difference-maker on the field. Her performance from the events in December really caught the eyes of scouts. She’s going to have a lot of fans of her game as she offers the game-breaking abilities in the final third that elite wingers possess.
Highlights
Boltuc is a forward/midfielder on the Cleveland Force 08 ECNL team. She’s a talent player on the Force squad. She has a good first touch and showed good skill in tight spaces on game film. She’s a good off-the-ball defender. She does a good job of getting away from her mark just enough to cut out passing lanes, but still remain touch-tight. Boltuc’s all-around game makes her a versatile prospect to know from this class.
