There will be plenty of exciting matches going on around the Lone Star State over the next three weeks and Prep Soccer will preview some of them. The bi-district round will open the postseason, with matches taking place on March 25 and 26, and here’s one to watch:
Atascocita vs. Deer Park – March 25 – 6:00 PM – @ Atascocita HS
Atascocita
The Lady Eagles split District 21’s title with Kingwood, having a campaign of 12 wins, one tie and one loss – they scored 64 goals and conceded five in district play. Their season record shows 16 wins, four losses and three ties.
Senior Jess Aguilar is extremely reliable for Atascocita between the posts and in front of her two defenders stand out – senior center back Ella Arenivas Ella Arenivas D TX and junior Andrea Delgado Andrea Delgado D Atascocita | 2025 State TX , who can play in the center of the backline or at left back. Sophomore Caitlyn Trosclair Caitlyn Trosclair M TX patrols the midfield, giving freshman Brielle Hernandez Brielle Hernandez F State #83 Nation TX and sophomore Paige Kees the freedom they need to create. Two more freshmen play in the attack – striker Logan Reich Logan Reich 5'10" | F Atascocita | 2027 TX and right winger Sophie Chavez -, with junior Abby Friday appearing on the left.
Deer Park
The Deer were third in District 22, producing a campaign of six wins, three losses and one tie – their offense generated 27 goals and their defense let only six in. Their full-season record shows eight victories, nine losses and three ties.
Junior Kamryn Shamblin and freshman Paige Hathhorn are the main options in goal, although Shamblin can also help at forward. Junior Presley Pugh is the team’s main defenders alongside sophomore Mackenzie Garner. Deer Park have some creative and talented players in midfield, most notably senior Alessandra Aguilar, junior Lorelai Guetrin and sophomore Mariana Vazquez. Junior Addison Walker is getting most of the team’s offensive production in a frontline that also counts on juniors Sonya Hughes and Valerie Valdez.
