GLENDALE, California - The freshman are here and they are ready to make some noise. That was the theme of the day at the Prep Soccer Girls Soccer ID So Cal Camp on Saturday, July 27. There were a number of 2028s who starred against older competition. They made a mark in the first competitions and continue to make a name for themselves throughout the day. Below is a scouting report on a few of the freshman every scout should know.

Going into the event, I knew Bartlett from her standout play at the ECNL level and had some high expectations for the young prospect. She lived up to the previous acclaim. She scored the goal of the day in the full-field scrimmage. It was a wonderful chip that showed skill, awareness, and ambition. The forward is dynamic, electric, and impossible to contain. She keeps close control of the ball and has excellent balance. The way she bursts from a complete stop to full speed shows some similarities to the way Mallory Pugh (Swanson) used to influence the game at the youth level. The most impressive part of Bartlett's game is that she can scored outrageous goals like she did on Saturday, but she is so calculated in those moments and already has a terrific understanding of when to do it - and when to play the safer option in order to help her team. The sky is the limit for Bartlett who will be in a star in this game at the highest level in the future.

Beary impressed me during the full-field scrimmage. She played in the center of the defense and I thought she was one of the best defenders on the day. Fearless in the tackle, physical in the duel, and smart about her positioning, she consistently made the winning play for her team. On the ball, she did not make mistakes. She was quick to make decisions and found her teammates feet quickly. Beary showed that she can compete against the top players from older age groups and should be a player to watch during the club and high school season.

Walter was an early standout on Saturday. She has high level technical ability and all coaches remarked on her aptitude to pick up on the instructions. The Legends standout has position flexibility and it showed on Saturday as she popped up all over the place. Walter had a stellar summer with her club team and she continued that over the weekend at the Prep Soccer event.

Morello's day was cut short due to injury, but the coaches remarked to me that she was one of the standouts from the technical training. Even on an off day, she showed that she is a name to know from this region. Morello was a top performer for Legends during the ECNL playoff run. The center back can do it all.

Cabrera had coaches buzzing on the sideliens for her play during the full-side games. She is excellent on the ball with her control, body feints, and knack for playing with her head up. Cabrera felt like she raised her level when she was surrounded by the top talent at the event. She works well off of her teammates and plays good combinations with accurate passes and quick movement. Cabrera shows the instincts of a player who will continue to get better as the speed of the game increases.

This was the second time seeing Henry at a Prep Soccer Talent ID event. She comes from a very talented soccer family and that competitive drive is definitively there. The youngest Henry had another stellar showing as she just makes winning plays all over the field constantly. It helps that she trains against her older sisters, which should make her ready to make an immediate impact at the high school level.
