With a lot of focus recently on players from Southern California, it's time to look at players from the northern portion of the state, starting with some 2025 players who are already committed to play at Division I schools. Let's start with some forwards.

[player_tooltip player_id='54213' first='Leilani' last='Cortez-Ramirez'], Forward, Bay Area Surf

Cortez-Ramirez can do it all, and it is very obvious that she could play any position on the pitch. She has tremendous physicality and really uses her body well to keep people off of the ball. Her balance and strength are incredible. She turns as well as anyone you will see, and that helps her when playing centrally. She can play a clever ball off the inside of her foot, she can make a simple pass, she can go diagonal. She can spray it all over the pitch. She finishes extremely well and uses both feet to do so. She's a tremendously athletic player who does not have a weak spot. She is heading to Arizona to play after the upcoming year.

[player_tooltip player_id='54273' first='Elhom' last='Khursand'], Forward, San Juan SC

The Oak Ridge High player will be at Cal next year, and Khursand plays every game like it is going to be her last. She plays with so much passion and energy. Oh, and then there is her great ability. Some players have power and some have speed, but she is a combination of both and has them in spades. She has straight line speed, she can accelerate and she can stop and start. She really can bully a defender as well because she is very strong and physical, and will usually win in a contested situation. She angles her body well, using her head and shoulders to put defenders on her hip instead of in front, and she can score pretty much from anywhere at any time.

[player_tooltip player_id='33318' first='Kaylee' last='Kim'], Forward, Bay Area Surf

Blazing speed is a carrying tool for Kim, as she can accelerate quicker than most players you will see but that isn't her entire game. She has a great center of gravity and good strength, as she is impossible to dispossess when she's on the ball. She can hit a ball one-time and score, doing so with either foot, or she can create for herself. She anticipates the ball well, putting herself in good positions, and a great skill of hers is remaining onside. She is always aware of the last defender, she will flatten her run or throttle down to get level and then accelerate again. She is committed to Duke.

[player_tooltip player_id='54274' first='Jalana' last='Kimber'], Forward, San Juan SC

Kimber will be playing at Santa Clara after high school, and watching her play, you see someone that plays with pure determination. She just seems to want it more than the defender. She doesn't float into space, she attacks open space, always anticipating the ball and is always ready to score. She is very fast and defenders have a hard time keeping up with her when she makes a run, but she is also excellent on the ball and can take on multiple defenders at once, showing great foot skills and strength. She can also score from a variety of angles, making her hard to stop.

[player_tooltip player_id='19981' first='Murphy' last='Walsh'], Forward, MVLA

Walsh is a USC commit and the Trojans are getting a player that can influence the game in many ways. She has good size and can dominate around the goal when the ball is in the air, but she scores in a variety of ways. She can create on her own, she can get on the end of a ball and she can use either foot. She can also take over a game and influence it with her passing ability. During the high school season with Archbishop Mitty, she sat back deeper in the midfield to fill a need for the team, unselfishly, and facilitated the ball, she defended and pushed forward to join the attack. She is very skilled, very fluid and should make an impact at the next level.
