Mitty is a Northern California powerhouse and Ms. Walsh runs the show. If Mitty wins it all this season she should be firmly in the conversation to win Gatorade Player of the Year even if her stat lines aren’t as impressive as some other contenders. Her defensive presence and capabilities are truly unique.

Walsh was exceptional against De Anza in her teams 1-0 win. She was playing attacking midfielder in this game and continues to show off her versatility.

It will be interesting to see if her coach plays her at the 6 or 9 this season. Possibly a bit of both as needed. Whatever position she plays Walsh is a dynamic playmaker on both ends. She affects the game positively for her team in so many different ways. I’ve never seen a player her age win so many aerial duels.

Apparently due to some injuries on her team she was moved to the 6 for ECNL playoffs as she usually plays the 9. I think she has found a new home; she is a natural. She’s tall and has exceptional timing on her jump which gives her the ability to win every aerial duel that comes her way. The USC commit’s aunt is famed Olympian Beach Volleyball player Kerri Walsh and it seems that the athleticism runs in the family. She is relentless defensively and surprisingly calm in possession for someone who usually plays further up field. Great competitor and fun to watch. Bright future for this one.
