Impactful Defenders in the 2028 New York Girls Soccer Class

There are outstanding candidates at center back and outside back among the freshman group. Read a scout report on the most impact defenders below.    [player_tooltip player_id='231297' first='Hannah' last='Jachman'], Defense, New York SC - Jachman is a 2009, who plays on a 2008 GA team, and is part of the this talented freshman class. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events and Girls Academy Talent ID events in the past. Jachman can play as a center back or an outside back thanks to her confidence on the ball and terrific ball skills. She possesses rare traits in being able to break pressure with the ball at her feet. She's a strong defender with good anticipation skills.     [player_tooltip player_id='276296' first='Addison' last='Elia'], Defense, [program_tooltip program_id='276499' first='WNY' last='Flash'] - The biggest question for Elia is where does she play at the next level. She can play outside back, center back, and forward at a high level. She is a competitive player who shines in any role. She looked great at center back for her club team during the ECNL playoffs over the summer. She's been one of the best scorers in New York at the high school level when playing forward. The logical guess is probably right wing back at the top level for Elia, but she is very good at organizing her teammates when she plays in the center so the opportunity is there too. Wherever she ends up, she will be making winning plays for her team.     [player_tooltip player_id='276286' first='Raquelle' last='Renieris'], Defense, SUSA 2010 ECNL - Renieris is a left back on the SUSA. She's been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. She's a good on-ball defender - strong, uses her body well in the duel. Renieris shines in possession. She does well keeping possession of the ball for her side. She's not a flying outside back, but a confident and calm possession-dominant one. She's got traits to suggest a bright future as a left center back in a back three.     [player_tooltip player_id='276300' first='Mikaela' last='Regazzi'], Defense, SUSA 2010 ECNL - Regazzi is a left center back on the SUSA ECNL team. She previously played for Long Island SC GA. She has also been part of Eastern NY ODP. Regazzi impressed at the recent ECNL event. She moves her feet well. Stays in front of the attacker and toe pokes the ball away. There were countless instances of Regazzi shutting down the opposing attack with excellent fundamentals as a defender. She can get caught on her heels a bit in the open field. She's excellent when the 1v1 defending is in front of her, but adjusting to the diagonal runs of dynamic forwards is going to be an area for improvement moving forward. Regazzi might end up being the most valuable player for SUSA this season. She's playing a crucial role for a side with dreams of advancing to Richmond.     [player_tooltip player_id='276533' first='Norihanna' last='Korzenko'], Defense, SUSA 2010 ECNL - Korzenko is a center back on the SUSA ECNL team. She has been part of the US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. She was also part of the successful varsity team at Ward Melville as a freshman. She's a dual-sport athlete too - she's a standout at lacrosse. Korzenko is a stellar defender, but the part of her game that makes her a better prospect than her peers is her goal-scoring ability. She is a target on set pieces and an efficient finisher. She is an impactful player on both sides of the field at a rare level. Korzenko is among the best defenders in this class who aren't on the Youth National Team.     [player_tooltip player_id='276518' first='Brooke' last='Ramponi'], Defender, World Class 2010 ECNL - Ramponi plays right center back for World Class. She is one of the captains of her club team. She is consistently a key player for her club team. She's a good 1v1 defender as a center back. Her best attribute is on the ball. She hits a variety of passes with accuracy. Her chip pass to break the line of pressure and get into the feet of the forward is a strength of her game. Ramponi has some qualities that suggest she will be a big-time player from this class.     [player_tooltip player_id='276306' first='Claire' last='Essick'], Defender, World Class 2010 ECNL - Essick played left back in the recent games. She was excellent in that role. Strong in the duel, smart about when to put in the tackle, and offered good support to her teammates, Essick has shown excellent traits as a top outside back. She is right footed but looks comfortable playing with her left. She impressed with her decision-making on the ball in possession when getting forward and joining the attack. Essick has shown good quality this season in ECNL to suggest she will be a top outside back in this class.
