ECNL Texas: Standout outside backs in the 10s age group

The ECNL Girls soccer League held its second National Event in the 2025 calendar year this past weekend, in Dallas, Texas, featuring three days of action involving over 200 teams from the entire country at the Toyota Soccer Center and the MoneyGram Soccer Park. With the event concluded, it's time we feature the players that impressed us with their games. As we continue to look into 10s division, this time we'll highlight the outside backs:    McLeod played for the Bethesda SC team that got a tie and two losses against strong competition in Dallas. I caught them in what was probably the best performance in the event, a 2-2 tie with Real Colorado National, in which she had a solid shift at left back. She held her own defensively, controlling the space efficiently and playing hard in duels. The left-footed outside back also showed interesting skills in possession, displaying cold blood and confidence to break the opposing press with intelligent passing and dribbling to create space.     Troilo and her [program_tooltip program_id='278665' first='Classics' last='Elite'] teammates were undefeated with two wins and one tie. She was part of the team's strong backline, which allowed just one goal in three matches. I got to watch her in a 1-1 tie with Richmond United on Sunday, when her defensive abilities were at full display. Troilo is a tall and athletic outside back, who doesn't give up an inch to opposing wingers and is excellent at winning duels. She didn't make it past the midfield line very often, but still managed to support the team's offense with accurate long passes out of the back.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/02/2J4A0031_d32031.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-279668" /></figure>    Brayton was with the Chicago Inter Soccer team that completed its schedule in Dallas with one win and two losses. I was on the sidelines in what was probably their best performance in the tournament, a 1-0 win over DKSC, and Brayton played a solid role in it. She gave a lot of defensive stability to the team from the left back position, playing with good energy and performing strong defensive actions, most notably well-time sliding tackles. She also displayed good ball control and vision to connect passes out of the back and used her ability to take long throw-ins to bypass DKSC defenders and find her team's attackers in the final third.    <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img src="https://prepsoccer.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2025/02/2J4A0054_107621.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-279678" /></figure>    King's DKSC team produced one win and two losses in the event. Capable of playing in different positions at a very high level, she lined up for them at right back and was extremely consistent in their 1-0 loss to Chicago Inter Soccer. King had, at times, multiple opponents going at her and remained calm, making solid defensive plays. She read the game well, making interceptions and cutting passes, and also thrived in duels, timing her actions extremely well. She was part of an electric match with Sting Black on Sunday, which ended with the Texas side winning 3-2, and was one of the standouts in her team. Playing left back, Leone had a solid defensive display for them, keeping things under control on her side of the field. Her positioning was excellent and helped her make several interceptions. I got to watch them in a 1-1 tie with Seattle United, when she was in excellent form for her team. Hill is an offensive-minded right back, who likes to push forward, and she had a few very good runs in that match, beating defenders with her dribbling and pace and sending dangerous crosses into the penalty box.
