Making history last summer as the youngest player in the USL W King will look to play another unforgettable season. At only 13, she is playing comfort and confidence, showing a high upward trend toward going pro. Playing with Flatiron FC this season, there is already clear indication to the talent King provides. Part of the staring 11 she continues to prove she can influence games at a young age.

King played for the Dallas Texans ECNL G10 team that advanced all the way to the semifinals in the U16 Division. Originally an outside back, she played center back in a 3-3 group phase tie against FC Dallas ECNL RL G10 and was one of the team’s standouts in that encounter. King used her excellent mobility and positioning to make defensive plays around the penalty box, stepping up to cover her teammates out wide. She also did well when defending centrally, having success in duels and coming up with timely tackles inside the box. A lefty, King supported the team’s buildup with intelligent passing out of the back and some runs on the ball that helped the Texans move forward.

King and her Dallas Texans G10 team are set to play Davis Legacy, Sporting Iowa and Arizona Arsenal over the weekend in Phoenix. Typically used as an outside back for them, she’s extremely versatile, being able to play in central defense and also as a forward. That’s possible because of her impressive all-around game, which allows her to execute well in many different areas of the game. That also makes of King a true two-way player, who plays aggressively in possession, using her ball control to go at opposing defenders, and displays strong reading of the game and superior instincts when playing defense.

King is part of the Dallas Texans G10 team that will meet Sting Austin G10 and Classics Elite G10 this weekend. She’s a new face to the club, having joined from DKSC ‘ last=”], and should add a lot to their ability to create chances from the wings with her quality and aggressiveness on the ball. A very athletic player, King can also play as a striker and she’s very efficient at converting chances inside the penalty box. She has played against older competition at the UPSL and USL Super League recently and earned a lot of experience, which will help her as she continues to progress.

King has the athleticism to compete in college soccer tomorrow. She has rare qualities for such a young prospect. She’s earned playing time against older competition in the UPSL and USL Super League. She’s either an outside back or a winger. She has game breaking skills and pace. The best part about King’s game is that she’s never satisfied. She’s always looking to improve and always looking for a bigger challenge. She has the persistence and mentality to be a professional player in the future. 

King’s DKSC team produced one win and two losses in the event. Capable of playing in different positions at a very high level, she lined up for them at right back and was extremely consistent in their 1-0 loss to Chicago Inter Soccer. King had, at times, multiple opponents going at her and remained calm, making solid defensive plays. She read the game well, making interceptions and cutting passes, and also thrived in duels, timing her actions extremely well. When in possession, she took great care of the ball, playing confidently out of the back with long passes and switches.

King’s proficiency in front of goal is shown through her confidence and comfort in taking on shots from challenging angles and positions.

King stands at 5’7, giving her a strong presence within the attacking third. King’s strength allows her to body off opposing defenders and create shooting opportunities for herself once she moves into space. King uses her strength and shooting ability to make herself an imposing force in her team’s attach.

Lauren King is a powerful striker from the class of 2029. Combining physical strength with outstanding shot power, King is able to place ripped shots into the corners of the net to beat the keeper and is also very accurate with crosses coming in from the wide spaces. King doesn’t hesitate to shoot on the attack and has confidence when shooting from a variety of angles. 

Coming in at 5’7, King has the build to immediately become a dominant presence within the final third. King’s ability to shoot with both power and accuracy, as well as sending in targeted crosses from the outside of the pitch makes her an outstanding attacking prospect.
