Miramonte VS Acalanes Cross Town Rivalry

It was a cold one in Orinda for this non-league fundraising day at Miramonte in Orinda, California. In the reverse fixture Acalanes scraped away with a 1-0 win at home. This game was quite different. A high scoring affair saw Miramonte who have been on a tear during the business end of this season came away with a 5-2 win. Acalanes went into this game ranked 127th in the state while Miramonte were ranked 201st. There were standout performances on both sides.    Salazar leading the line for Acalanes in this game and wreaked havoc for Miramonte's defensive line. She's an aggressive player who does not shy away from contact. She scored a consolation goal at the end and she thoroughly deserved it. Her 9th goal this season so far. The Senior captain will need to step up in the next couple of weeks in the playoffs to help lead her team to postseason glory.     Nguyen played very well on the left wing for Acalanes in this game. Her direct dribbling and runs in behind were of particular note. She loves to cut inside on to her right foot to shoot. She got a lovely assist to put the Dons up 1-0 early in the first half and it looked like Acalanes were on their way to another win. Nguyen has had a productive season so far with 6 goals and 7 assists. She will need to keep it going if Acalanes are going to have success in the postseason.     She scored one of the best goals I've seen at the high school level to open the scoring in this game. An absolute banger from the top of the box with her left foot. After a pass from her teammate Nguyen. Debiasse hit the ball with a ton of power right in top left corner of the goal. No goalie in the world would have saved it. You just don't see goals like that very often at that level take a bow Ms. Debiasse.     I thought she was the difference maker in this game. She scored twice, got one assist, and created another one with a fantastic free kick play she orchestrated. She wins tackles, aerial duels, she sprays the ball around the field, leads by example as well as vocally, she combines passes and she produces. Can't say enough good things about this young player.     Stevens had a great game and was the steady defensive force needed for the Mats in this game. Her anticipation of the opposing offense's decisions were on point in this game. She made every read that came her way. She matched the physicality of the Acalanes forwards and won most if not all of her defensive and aerial duels.     You know I had to include a freshmen who made a big impact on the game and in this one it was Obnial. She compliments Leal-Schuman really well in midfield as she moves off of her really well and she is dependable in possession. As most freshmen are she is on the smaller side but is a fierce competitor to make up for her lack in size on the defensive end. She understands her role on this team and plays it extremely well.     Has one of the coolest names of all time [player_tooltip player_id='83784' first='Inara' last='Inesi'] had a great game against Acalanes. The biggest spark she provided was her ability to break lines on the dribble. She was playing attacking midfielder in this game and had a canny ability to slither by defenders. After she broke the line the next pass was almost always a good one to one of her strikers or back into her midfield with more space to operate in. The Cal Magic product had an impressive display in this game.
