OHSAA Division IV State Championships: Stand-Out Performances

River View was participating in its first state final, while Worthington Christian was pursuing their program's fourth state championship. He recorded eight shots with three shots on target. One of those shots being a very athletic header that ricocheted off the cross bar in one of Worthington Christians many dangerous attacks in the first half. Eli is an agile attacker that uses his athleticism well to create shots. Eli loves to cut in on defenders and look for goal. He immediately had a positive impact on Worthington Christians attack. CJ is very fast but some of the best plays he made in the first half were passes to his teammates. In addition to his offensive production, CJ is a relentless defender. He works hard to win the ball back. He created most of these crosses off the dribble. Nolan is crafty and can quickly beat a defender and serve a cross. He is very composed and knows when to find his teammates and when to take on a defender. Layton faced an onslaught of attacks from Worthington Christian throughout this game and was able to maintain a clean sheet. Layton recorded 13 saves in this game and was a huge reason for River Views success. He uses his athleticism and positioning to make great saves and is great with the ball at his feet as well. Laird made countless plays against Worthington Christian attackers to keep his team in the game. He is a patient and athletic defender, staying composed in front of defenders until the time is right.
