Prep Soccer Texas was in attendance, and on Tuesday, April 15, we went to both the Richland College and the Ross Stewart Soccer Complex venues, where we followed many Girls' matches. With the tournament now concluded, we're featuring some of the players who made a strong impression in the matches we got to watch. Let's now take a look at the center backs:

Campbell was very good in the backline of [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''] 07/06 ECNL RL in their 3-0 victory over [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] White 07/06 ECNL RL NTX. Playing as a right-sided center back, she was very successful at stopping their opponents' offensive pushes, be it by stepping up to intercept passes or using her pace to get first to long balls sent behind her back. Campbell was very calm on the ball and, every time she got to win possession, she took great care of it, not giving up corner kicks of throw-ins around the penalty box. The defender was also heavily involved in the team's buildup and was very efficient with her distribution, connecting short and long passes with great precision.

Under captained Legends FC San Bernardino G07 to a 2-1 victory against Cosmos FC Academy USC TX RL 07. The right-sided center back was a stud defensively and helped her team sustain the strong pressure made by their opponents for most of the second half. Under was very solid when defending inside the penalty box, getting several clearances in the air and blocking shots, but also did well when she had to step to the right side of the backline to cover her teammates. She did a great job of coordinating the team's offside trap, which stopped a handful of Cosmos attacks.

Cox helped her team Americas FC 06 secure a 1-0 win over BVB IA NTX 07/06G GA. A tall and physical center back, she was excellent at protecting the team's penalty box, dominating the game in the air and on the ground. Cox also did well when she had to defend in space, showing great mobility and intelligence to step between opposing attackers and the goal and to keep them under pressure. The center back also did nice work with the ball, showing calm and quality with her passes out of the back.

Liner led [program_tooltip program_id='283499' first='Sting' last='Dallas'] Black 08G ECNL's defensive system in a strong 7-0 win over [program_tooltip program_id='283444' first='Renegades' last='SC'] 08G ECNL RL NTX. Even though her team had the ball most of the time, the center back was called to action on some occasions and always responded well, stopping plays with her excellent positioning. Liner displayed great chemistry with fellow center back [player_tooltip player_id='27103' first='Miranda' last='Black'] as the two complemented each other very well and were always ready to make plays. She also worked well in possession, helping her team circulate the ball efficiently, and registered an assist in a nice long pass that found forward [player_tooltip player_id='112752' first='Ella' last='York'] open inside the penalty box.

Villarreal was the captain of [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'] 09G ECNL in their 9-0 win over GLASA Dallas Legacy 09 Arroyo. Despite the Texans' evident dominance in the match, it wasn't always an attack vs. defense type of game as Legacy managed to push forward and get numbers in their attacking half on some occasions. Playing in the center of her team's back three, Villarreal consistently stepped into the right spots to stop plays and didn't allow any major chances to be created. She was also very efficient with her distribution, circulating the ball well and starting the team's buildup with quality.
