, forming a center back duo that has size, intelligence and quality on the ball to not only shut opponents down, but also to truly make a difference in matches. A complete center back, Villarreal is physical enough to dominate opponents inside and around the penalty box, but she often relies on her ability to read plays to get to the ball first and win possession without getting into duels. She first played as a forward and has the quality and confidence on the ball to dribble through pressure and to initiate attacking plays out of the back.

Villarreal was the captain of Dallas Texans 09G ECNL in their 9-0 win over GLASA Dallas Legacy 09 Arroyo. Despite the Texans’ evident dominance in the match, it wasn’t always an attack vs. defense type of game as Legacy managed to push forward and get numbers in their attacking half on some occasions. Playing in the center of her team’s back three, Villarreal consistently stepped into the right spots to stop plays and didn’t allow any major chances to be created. She was also very efficient with her distribution, circulating the ball well and starting the team’s buildup with quality.

Villarreal played a major role for the Dallas Texans 09 team that ranked sixth in the Texas Conference with nine wins, five losses and one tie, qualifying for the Champions League. A forward converted into a center back, she brings the best of both positions to the field, displaying the quality on the ball and the creativity of an offensive player and the defensive instincts of a defender. Villarreal uses her size extremely well to perform defensive actions and is also very mobile every time she needs to track back. She also has great quality and vision with her passing.

Villarreal is a versatile player for Texans and she showed that in San Diego. She can be the No. 9 or the No. 10 for her team. Either spot she plays, she brings a hard-nose defensive approach combined with some creativity on the ball. She had a goal in the game against Surf and also provided the key pass on the final goal of the game.
