Decision Day at Girls Academy Playoffs

Every ticket to Virginia was punched in the U15 and U17 age groups and Semi-Finals were played in the U19 age group. Congratulations to all who made it. To the majority of you who didn't get to punch your ticket to the next phase I feel for you. Better luck next year. There were some amazing performances in victory and defeat on this warm low 80's day at Silverlake Complex in Norco, California. Here are the players who impressed me from todays matches:    What a player. Free kick weapon, incredible passing range, really sharp on the dribble and tucked a great penalty away after a 20 minute delay in play. She has great vision and touch. Division 1 schools will be all over this 2027 player.     Really solid showing from Bowe in this game for STA. Really clean on the ball and made smart decisions. She will be one to track moving forward.     She kept her team in this one. If it wasn't for Zorn this game would have been a lot worse then a 2-0 loss. The Michigan St commit showed why she is going to a top program. She made big save after big save to keep NEFC at bay.     Big time player who battled until the very end. NEFC controlled most of this game and Pasinki was everywhere trying to help her team. She made a ton tackles, disrupted NEFC's play, was clean in possession and ran herself into the ground trying to chase the game.     Floyd played well for Del Sol today. She is a big athletic player who caused NEFC problems. Really good in her hold up play and has good touch for a tall player.     Allen had a great game against Washington East Surf. Her physical gifts are obvious she towers over most players. She also has great touch and vision playing out of the back from the center back position. She is really good at shielding the ball and timing her tackles. As you would guess from such a tall player she wins a ton of headers. She is headed to the university of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2026 and the Panthers are getting a fantastic talent to anchor their back line.     Another great game from the El Salvadorian international who was in the CONCACAF U17 best XI recently. She's so quick her first step is so fast and she is incredibly shifty as she skips past defender with ease. Isn't scared to lay the ball off or catch the defender sleeping with great one time passes as well.     Stringer was an absolute menace up top for her West Coast side in a crazy 4-3 win in a win and your in game against Lamorinda. She scored a goal, provided an assist and made another positive play create a 3rd goal. Headed to Creighton in 2026 and she is someone that an offense can be built around in the coming years.     Danaher scored the first goal in this crazy game on a well taken rebound. She had a good performance as she was good in possession, battled in midfield, and did a good job creating chances running at defenders when she had space to eat up.     She had an incredible individual goal to make the game tied at 1-1 against West Coast in a game that could have gone either way. She is an absolute goal machine. She had an incredible high school season and has continued that momentum into club. She is a lethal finisher and exciting dribbler. UC Davis will be ecstatic to of landed this young superstar.     Another big time performance from the center back in this winner take all game. Lamorinda found themselves down 4-1 and had to go a bit more direct. That suited Mckey just fine as she showed off her incredible passing range the entire second half. Dumping the ball in over the top of the West Coast defense in great spots for her teammates to run on to. Could a Youth USA national team call up be in her future? I think she deserves it.     Rodriguez scored what was ultimately the game winner in this game against Lamorinda in a 4-3 win. She sprinted past a defender on the dribble to get in behind the last line and tucked it away nicely to the near post.     Lamorinda looked down and out they were down 4-1 with about 10 minutes left to play. It just didn't seem like it was their day. And then Henning-Gerson came onto the field. She scored the goal of the day with an absolute banger from about 30 yards out that knuckled over the goalie into the net with her weaker left foot to make it 4-2. About 2 minutes later she picked up the ball on the right hand side beat a defender 1 v 1 and put in a great cross that was ultimately an own goal to make it 4-3. In what would have been an amazing finish to her day she rattled the post with about a minute left in the dying seconds of the game. Incredible showing off the bench for this young talent.
