Playing at home, the Dynamo had the first opportunity to get on the scoreboard in the 18th minute, but forward [player_tooltip player_id='317494' first='Dax' last='Munson'] saw his shot hit the post and go out. Two minutes later, Solar scored, with forward Rylan Yeschenko getting on the end of a corner kick on the far post and heading the ball into the back of the net.

The home team leveled the score in the 19th minute of the second half, when forward Juan Zuniga drew and converted a penalty kick with a powerful left-footed shot. Solar had the opportunity to score the game-winning goal in a penalty kick of their own, after midfielder David Astello, was taken down inside the box, but the Dynamo goalkeeper [player_tooltip player_id='295680' first='Ryan' last='Truby'] dove to his right and stopped the shot of midfielder Reid Robinson.

The center forward came off the bench after halftime and gave new life to the Dynamo's attack, generating several goal-scoring opportunities. Zuniga used his body very well in holdup plays and was very effective at making turns to beat defenders and driving the ball forward. He worked well as the focal point of his team's offense, but also operated efficiently in a system with two forwards, drifting wide and making plays on the wing. He fired an excellent shot from outside the box that was saved by Solar's goalkeeper and drew and converted a penalty kick with a powerful left-footed shot into the left upper corner to level the score.

A new face with the Dynamo this season after moving from HTX, Guerra had a very good performance on the right side of the team's back three. The center back was extremely solid in winning duels and dominated the opponents that came into his zone. In the second half, when the Dynamo were on the front foot, his mobility and ability to recover were pivotal for the team to defend in space as he made a couple of key stops in transition plays. Guerra also did well in possession, always making himself available to get on the ball and displaying calm and confidence to connect passes out of the back.

After a somewhat slow first half, Pierre was way more active in the second part of the match and helped the Dynamo create attacking plays. The talented forward didn't see much of the ball at the start of the match and couldn't make much happen in the final third, but got way more involved in the second half, when he started dropping deeper to get on the ball and kept a more central position. Pierre was excellent at creating space with body moves and his ability to quickly push the ball forward allowed him to attack the space between the lines. Pierre used his dribbling and passing to create chances and had a good chance to score a go-ahead goal for the Dynamo in the second half, but his shot went wide.

Davis was very tough for Solar, spending time at both outside back spots and displaying a solid defensive game. The defender played with great energy off the ball, winning most of the duels he was involved in to control his zone on the backline and force the Dynamo to play centrally instead of getting through him. Davis also did well in possession, connecting quick passes and moving up the field to immediately give his teammates an option and displaying great tactical intelligence.

Reyna was between the posts for Solar during the second half of the match and played a big role in helping his team get a draw. With his strong performance in goal, he stopped many dangrous chances created by the Dynamo and kept Solar ahead for as long as he could. Reyna performed some excellent saves in shots, most notably in one from Zuniga which was going in on the upper corner, and also dealt well with corner kicks. The goalkeeper couldn't have done any better to stop the Dynamo's goal as Zuniga hit the upper corner with a powerful shot to beat his from the penalty kick spot.

Evans had a solid shift in midfield for Solar, giving the team a strong presence in the center of the field and good stability with his consistent play. The defensive midfielder did a great job of shielding the team's backline, using his ability to cover ground and his quickness to perform defensive actions to stop many Dynamo plays. Evans was also heavily involved in Solar's buildup, at times dropping between the center backs to increase the level of their distribution out of the back.
