Munson lead the line for the Houston Dynamo against the Columbus Crew. His side dominated proceedings and he scored a good goal to put his team in the lead. Soccer doesn’t always make sense as Dynamo continued to knock on the door for a second and Crew hit them on the counter to equalize right before halftime. Munson makes very intelligent runs and is a fantastic athlete. He created a lot of chances for his Dynamo side in the second half but it was ultimately in vain as Columbus scored another goal to send the Dynamo out of the tournament in a 2-1 loss.

Munson had an excellent start to the match, capitalizing on the first opportunity he had to score, showing calm and composure inside the box to beat a defender and finish with a well-placed left-footed shot. The forward also stood out with his movement, consistently making runs behind the backline and offering passing options to his teammates. Munson also did well when he dropped deeper to get on the ball, using his body well to shield the ball and demonstrating good vision to feed the wide players. The forward kept his energy level elevated when working off the ball, pressing defenders and challenging them.

Munson had a great performance in the striker role, scoring twice and getting an assist in the Dynamo’s last goal. His high-intensity game up top kept Austin’s defense under constant pressure as he made several runs behind their backline, offering passing options to his teammates. Munson was very good with his finishing, too, scoring his first goal in the match from somewhat of a tight angle and getting a shot past multiple players to get his second one. The forward worked well with his back to the goal, holding the ball efficiently and releasing it at the right time, as when he assisted Gonzalez’s third goal. The striker worked very hard off the ball, too, and was very intelligent with his press, generating some turnovers from Austin’s defenders.

Munson played up top for the Houston Dynamo team that triumphed in the U15 Supergroup with five wins and one tie. A striker with solid physical tools and superior mobility, he works very hard in the final third to get involved and facilitate plays for his teammates. Munson thrives with his movement in the final third, but also does well when he needs to drop a little deeper to get on the end of long passes and can also make strong runs on the wings. He’s very good with his pressing too, often getting opposing defenders uncomfortable when in possession.

The forward came up big for the Dynamo in a key moment of the match, getting directly involved in the team’s last two goals, and was decisive in their victory. Munson delivered a lot of intensity and non-stop movement up top, giving his teammates a consistent passing option by making runs behind the backline or dropping back to get on the ball. He was excellent when fed with long passes, beating opponents for the ball and using his first touch to take it into space. Munson also showed interesting playmaking skills when he moved outside the penalty box, showing solid dribbling skills out wide and setting up a play with a beautiful backheel pass in the second half. He kept his energy level high without the ball, too, efficiently pressing opposing defenders.

A new face with the Dynamo this season, coming from Albion Hurricanes FC , Munson had a busy match in the striker role. He did a great job of constantly moving off the ball and making himself available for his teammates in the final third. Munson used his body well to shield the ball and work with his back to the goal, but also kept the opposing backline under pressure with his runs off the ball, at times trying to get in behind and on other occasions drifting wide to open up space in the middle. The forward also demonstrated great dedication and intelligence in pressing opposing defenders when they had the ball, forcing them to play long passes and turn the ball over.
