Expert Analysis
Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Guerra led GFI Academy in one of the most surprising results of the day, a 3-1 win over Inter Miami in Group Q. The attacking midfielder orchestrated most of his team’s offensive plays, getting into great spots in the attacking half and distributing the ball intelligently. Guerra added to it by consistently getting into the box to finish chances. In the second half, when his team was down a player for most of the time, he showed great defensive commitment and helped initiate some counterattacks with long passes, including the one that led to GFI Academy’s third goal.

The junior was Episcopal’s main playmaker, playing the No. 10 role with a nice touch of flair and creativity. Guerra has impressive quality on the ball and knows how to make the most of it, beating defenders with dribbles in tight spaces and delivering accurate passes in the final third. He typically plays more centrally, but moves well off the ball in the final third, getting to good spots to get on the ball and make plays. An excellent finisher, who can put the ball in the back of the net with either foot or his head, Guerra delivers a lot when it comes to combined goals and assists.

Guerra was placed 12th among the midfielders in the Class of 2027 and ranks 41st overall in the state. He’s a high school state champion with Episcopal and plays for Global Football Innovation (GFI) Academy’s U17 team in the MLS Next League, having joined a few months ago. A technical and creative attacking midfielder, he has an impressive ability to impact the game offensively with his play. Guerra typically plays more centrally, but he moves very well in the attacking half and helps set up plays in the final third with his vision and dribbling ability. The most interesting aspect of his game, however, is his goalscoring ability, as Guerra often gets into good spots in the penalty box and is an excellent finisher, who uses both feet and his head extremely well to convert chances.
