Woodford was the third wheel in Albion’s midfield trio that was instrumental in the team’s comeback. The most defensive-minded of them, she was very active at shielding the team’s backline and helped dominate the center of the field. Woodford used her height to deflect long passes and was very successful with her tackles, too. She also performed well in possession, moving the ball quickly and showing good vision to find wide players in good spots and to attempt long passes.

Woodford was very active and efficient in midfield and played a big role in Albion’s victory. A defensive midfielder, she was excellent in her duty of shielding her team’s backline, reading plays extremely well, and winning many duels in the center of the field – she also made a couple of big stops inside the box in what could have been dangerous finishes for Challenge. Woodford also displayed quality and intelligence on the ball, quickly moving it from one side of the field to the other when she had possession. She got into a good spot in a corner kick to score the team’s second with a header and almost got another one in the first half, following up on a play and getting on the end of a rebound.

Woodford is a midfielder on the AHFC 2010 ECNL team. She plays as a defensive midfielder, but her game lends itself to a center midfielder with box-to-box quality. I think she is used more as the No. 6 because she has the engine and willingness to do the job and the tactical intelligence to cover the right spots for her team. Woodford’s play in the postseason impressed me. She did well in dictating the game with her smart positioning and decision-making on the ball. Her athletic traits also showed with her lung-busting full field runs. Woodford has the quality to be a top player in this class in the future.
