Houston’s starting right back, Fitzsimons is also the team’s captain. He’s an attacking-minded outside back who offers a lot offensively with his ability to combine with teammates and provide great service into the penalty box. Fitzsimons is very good at reading the space in front of him and figuring out how to move on and off the ball to best take advantage of it. He is excellent in set pieces and uses his six-foot frame to win duels in the air in both penalty boxes, often scoring in headers. The right back also does well defensively, showing good commitment and determination to stop opponents and never giving up when he’s beaten.

Fitzsimons played only the first 45 minutes, but was very solid at the right back spot for the Dynamo. With Dallas controlling most of the action, he didn’t have many opportunities to get into teh final third, but stood out with a strong defensive performance. Fitzsimons was matched up with winger

An outside back who delivers at a high level on both sides of the ball, Fitzsimons starts at right back for the Dynamo. There’s a lot to like about his game as he has everything one would want in a modern outside back, combining interesting physical and technical skills and making excellent decisions on and off the ball. Fitzsimons likes to go forward and adds a lot to the Dynamo’s offense with his ability to get to the end line by either dribbling the ball or combining with teammates and provide great service to teammates. He uses his big frame very well to win duels on defense and is also quick enough to chase pacey wingers out wide. Fitzsimons is also excellent at set pieces, taking corner kicks and free kicks with great accuracy.

Originally an attacking player, Fitzsimons stood out playing right back for the Dynamo, displaying some versatility and an interesting ability to adapt. He played with great intensity, running up and down the field during the entire match and being very active on both sides of the ball. Fitzsimons held his own defensively by using his body to block space and win duels and was very hard to beat in 1v1 situations. His offensive background showed every time he went forward, as he timed his overlaps well and at times came inside to facilitate plays with his vision and passing. Fitzsimons almost scored the game-winning goal for the Dynamo, but his header off of a corner kick hit the crossbar.
