Early Season Best Performances from the ECNL Southwest 2009s

The first month of the ECNL club season is in the books. The 2009 ECNL Southwest action has offered some stellar contests through those opening weekends. Check out the individual top performances from the uncommitted 2027s and 2028s in the ECNL Southwest.    Harpster is a defender on the [program_tooltip program_id='283395' first='Legends' last='FC'] San Diego 09 ECNL team. She plays right center back for her club team. She is a calm, poised defender. She has been an asset for her team at the start of the season with her distribution and decision-making on the ball. Her defensive instincts and organization has been a major reason why the team has two shutouts from their first three games. Harpster is also a weapon on set pieces. She gets on the end of corner kicks and has a goal to her credit already this season.     Huete-Ramirez is a goalkeeper on the Sporting CA USA 09 ECNL team. She is a new addition to the team this season. She previously played for Legends IE and featured on the ODP team. Huete-Ramirez has been a bright spot for the Sporting CA side. She is athletic, strong hands, and driven. She continues to improve her craft and advance her game with every season. She made a remarkable block on a penalty kick early in the season. She will be a player to know for scouts looking for an uncommitted goalkeeper in this 2027 class.     Valdivia is a forward on the [program_tooltip program_id='283395' first='Legends' last='FC'] San Diego 09 ECNL team. She's been excellent through the first few games of the season. She's quick on the ball, makes darting runs, and can finish in tight windows. Valdivia is a unique prospect. She can play as a center forward or on the wing, she doesn't jump out with physical attributes, but she commands attention on game film with her relentless attack. She is constantly demanding the attention of the opposition. Valdivia has a nose for the goal and has proven to be a prolific scorer at the top level of the club game.     Huynh is a defender on the San Diego Surf 09 ECNL team. She plays left back for her club team. She is one of the top left-foot dominant players in the Southwest. She shines on one of the best teams and is often tasked with marking the top winger from the opposition. Huynh's best attributes is in possession. She's a wonderful passer. Her assist against Rebels last month was a pass that would make any college scout take notice. It feels routine for Huynh though. Her Surf squad is possession-dominant and needs that type of playmaking from the outside back, which is where she shines. Huynh has been a top performer at the start of the campaign.     Bruno is a center forward on the Rebels 09 ECNL team. She is a 2028 graduate. She is strong, fast, skillful. She has a ton of potential. She has the physical profile to be an early contributor on a top program. Bruno has impressed against the top defenders in the country in the 2027 class. She does well with service into her feet. She uses her body well to hold off defenders. She could improve with her She should be on the radar as one of the best 2028s in San Diego.     Ellis is already ranked as one of the best forwards in the country in the Prep Soccer player rankings. Even with that consideration in mind, it's hard to deny her improvement as a player over the last few months. She is playing at a level that should have her in the conversation for Youth National Team call-ups. She has always been skillful and quick. Her decision-making in the final third is taking her game to a new level. She is going to be the player that every coach wants from the 2028 class.     Adler is a goalkeeper on the Slammers 09 ECNL team. She has been excellent at the start of the season. The shot-stopper for Slammers has shown that she is fearless of her line, acrobatic, and has lightning quick reactions. Adler has made some saves this season that deserve a spot on any player's highlight reel. Her ability to adjust when she sees a shot late is very impressive. She's a fierce competitor and has helped anchor two shutouts to kick off the campaign.     Brakefield is a six-foot tall defender on the Slammers 09 ECNL team. She plays left center back for her club team. The 2028 has been excellent this season against some of the best 2027s in the country. She's got the physical profile to stand out from game film. The tall, long-stride that college coaches covet from the center of the defense. She's a great athlete on top of that with a comfort and skill on the ball. Brakefield has the potential to be a top defender in the 2028 class.     Roehricht has been undeniably good for Slammers 09 ECNL at the start of the club season. The center back is a joy to watch for any scout who likes aggressive, smart, and competitive players. Roehricht is playing in the center of the defense for Slammers this season, but there is no reason she can't play as an outside back at the next level. She's got the athleticism and tactical awareness to be a weapon on the wing - when she picks off the pass and sees an open lane, she is creating chances with her vision. Roehricht's knack for tactical fouls to slow down the opposition is probably a lost art at the youth level, but crucial to her team's success. She's a brilliant talent who should be viewed as one of the most promising, versatile defenders in the California 2028 class.     LaRoque is a midfielder on the Beach FC 09 ECNL squad. She plays defensive midfield for her team. She's five-foot-seven with a commanding presence in the center of the pitch. She progresses the ball well up the field. She plays with her head up and tries to get the ball into her attacking teammates feet in opportune spots. LaRoque is constantly checking her shoulders and does well adjusting her position to be in a good supporting spot off the ball to help her side. She's been a key piece of the Beach FC in the early stretch of the season.     Johnson is a defender on the Las Vegas Heat Surf ECNL 09 squad. She plays left center back for her club team. She's got international experience over the summer in Mexico. Johnson's ability to battle and compete in duels stood out from game film. She uses her body well, including her strong lower body in the 50/50 challenge. She has the athleticism and pace to match up against any type of forward. Johnson is a 2027 defender worth the attention of scouts looking for center backs for that class.
