Texas Outside Backs to Watch at ECNL Phoenix

<p>The ECNL Girls League is set to host a national event this week, with the city of Phoenix welcoming U16, U17 and U19 teams from all over the country for three days of action between Friday and Sunday.</p>   <p>As many as 206 teams will make the trip to Arizona, and each of them will play three times at the Reach 11 Sports Complex, getting strong competition to assess where they are as the spring season comes to an end.</p>   <p>The state of Texas will account for about 20% of the participating teams, having 21 representatives, with [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'], [program_tooltip program_id='283282' first='Challenge' last='SC'], [program_tooltip program_id='283296' first='Classics' last='Elite'], [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'], [program_tooltip program_id='283317' first='[program_tooltip program_id='280767' first='DKSC' last='']' last=''], [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'], [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'], Solar SC, [program_tooltip program_id='283497' first='Sting' last='Austin'] and Sting Black all making the trip West.</p>   <p>Some promising prospects from the Lone Star State will get on the field over the weekend, and we're introducing them to you in the days leading up to the event. Today, we look into the outside backs:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">King and her [program_tooltip program_id='283311' first='Dallas' last='Texans'] G10 team are set to play Davis Legacy, Sporting Iowa and Arizona Arsenal over the weekend in Phoenix. Typically used as an outside back for them, she's extremely versatile, being able to play in central defense and also as a forward. That's possible because of her impressive all-around game, which allows her to execute well in many different areas of the game. That also makes of King a true two-way player, who plays aggressively in possession, using her ball control to go at opposing defenders, and displays strong reading of the game and superior instincts when playing defense.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/LaurenK2010g/status/1987552529182339173/ </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Colquitt plays for the Solar SC G09 team that's scheduled to face San Diego Surf, Legends FC San Diego and Bay Area Surf in the next few days in Arizona. A very intelligent left back, she makes an impact on the game with her play and rarely puts a foot wrong with her decision-making, even when under pressure. Colquitt is of great help when she joins Solar's offense, often making plays out wide and finding her teammates in great spots in the final third with her smart passing. Although not very tall, she's very aggressive and intense when playing defense, keeping opponents under pressure and forcing them back.</p>    <figure class="wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter"><div class="wp-block-embed__wrapper"> https://twitter.com/aricolquitt/status/1946395803817218321/ </div></figure>    <p class="text-gray-700">Hester will be with [program_tooltip program_id='283296' first='Classics' last='Elite'] G09 in their matches against SLSG Green, LAFC SoCal and Chicago Inter Soccer in this weekend's event. Capable of playing on both outside back spots and also on central defense, she stands out for her ability to make stops. Hester is excellent at winning duels and thrives with her positioning, especially when she tucks inside from the outside back spot to support her center backs, often making critical tackles inside and around the penalty box. She also has good quality on the ball and does a great job with her passing, be it in quick combination plays to break pressure or long switches to find an open teammate.</p>      <p class="text-gray-700">Baity and her [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] G08/07 team have matches against San Juan SC, Legends FC RL and LA Breakers in their schedule while in Phoenix. A right back, she combines solid technical and physical skills and delivers great intensity and solid execution on both sides of the ball. When playing defense, Baity uses her athleticism and her ability to cover ground to dominate her zone and shut opponents down.
