MLS Fest Standouts Part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>After a ton of flight delays yesterday we are finally here in Phoenix and there has been some amazing soccer played at the Arizona Athletic Grounds. It is my first time at this facility and oh my God is it impressive. No less than 24 soccer fields and that's not all. Baseball, basketball, and pickle ball tournaments were also being played today. As you can imagine it took a long while to park. Definitely the most impressive sports complex in the country that I have been to and a true testament to what youth sports can look like elsewhere. Lancerin is an excellent center back. Already has a professional physical/athletic profile. Plays tough and physical. Needs to improve consistency on the ball with decision making and technique. An absolute pocket monster. He is tiny and incredibly fast so really difficult to defend him. You can't teach what he possesses when it comes to technical excellence, change of direction speed and vision. I asked around and found out this Tulsa Greenwood is a new club to MLSNext. And for a first club they performed extremely well against the SF Glens. Has caught my eye right away. Plays with exceptional creativity and flair. Excellent free kick taker and passer of through balls in the air or on the ground. At 6'4 180 he is certainly an intimidating force out there. However, he can play as well. He is good on the ball and plays an excellent ping over the top of the opposition defense or into his strikers feet. He is an excellent athlete. Fast, strong and a high leap. I think what college coaches are looking for in midfield is reliability and Villegas possesses that trait. So consistent on the ball and will scrap defensively. Miller flashed some excellent touches and line breaking passes. And it turns out he is not. He is so fast and powerful. Times his tackles very well, won every aerial duel that came his way and flashed a sharp burst of speed to close space. He is incredibly strong and generates a ton of force on his tackles. Dominates the air and has an excellent turn of pace for such a big body. He scored a very well taken goal and dominated the middle of the park for his Fire team. Showed some excellent off ball movement and on ball savvy. I really like to see a young player particularly one that plays centrally mixing up passing and dribbling to penetrate defenses.
