It was an honor for me to be able to attend this well-run event and to feature some of the up-and-coming talent from across the nation. That's right, players from as far as Florida and IMG Academy were on hand to take part in the January ID camp.

I want to give a big thanks to Head Coach Jeff Freeman and Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator Joel Bancroft for letting me cover this event. As an ID Camp Director, I must say that this was a well-run camp. The staff and current players did a great job in organizing and running a smooth operation.

The check-in process was quick and efficient. The players were given adequate time to do individual warmups as well as group warmups. Studies show that allowing players to do individualized preparations plays a big part in performance. It also gave me a chance to check in with players and give a shoutout to their high school or club teams.

The first part of the event was split into three stations. There was a goalkeeper station and two field stations, one run by Coach Jeff and the other by Coach Joel. After about 20 minutes or so, they would end the session with a break and switch groups of players. The players seemed to be lumped into age groups, with freshmen and sophomores in one group and juniors and seniors in the other.

The coaches stopped play at certain points to give feedback as players either hit the mark or missed on the key points. I like this style of evaluation, as it prepares the players for what it is like to get real-time feedback and to see how they respond and make their adjustments.

There was another break and another round of small group sessions. This part is where I really started to see players who stuck out. They seemed to have ramped up the intensity of the drills, and some players responded by showing their confidence and technical skills when playing in open spaces.

Prior to the last portion of the camp, current players/camp counselors talked about their experience as a Division 1 collegiate soccer player and their experience at UOP. It was noted that players on the roster came from across the nation. I really like how the coaches are willing to recruit players from the vast parts of the country and have a balance with some local clubs and high schools in the Northern and Central CA regions.

Lastly, the camp ended with an 11 v 11 scrimmage, and the players who were first identified at the middle part of the sessions solidified their performances with top-level skills and clearly separated themselves from the rest. I really enjoyed the UOP camp and look forward to the next one on March 22, 2026. Please sign up below if you are interested in becoming a future Tiger, interested in being part of the building process, or just want to experience a college ID camp. See you there!

Juliana is one of the top defenders in the state of Florida for the class of 2027. The captain of the IMG Academy U17 Elite team in the Girls Academy (GA) league separated herself from the competition. She can play as a box-to-box mid but really stood out as a center back. Juliana demonstrated the technical skills to win 50/50 challenges and step into lanes to make clean tackles. She competed in regional ODP (Olympic Development Program) as well as being selected to play in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL) with the Premier Soccer Development Academy (PSD) team. She is a top-level uncommitted player who should be making her decision soon as to where to play or the level of competition.

She is a standout midfielder for Clovis East High School. She has a quick shot release, and she has a motor that can get her from goal to goal and touchline to touchline. At camp, she was always checking back and finding open pockets. Braseis showed her technical skills at moving in tight spaces and making quick cutbacks to shake off defenders. Her ability to scan and find players making runs to the 18 or overlapping runs was where she stood out the most. I like how she communicated well with teammates and how she provided high pressure for win-backs. Braseis was also selected for the NorCal Premier PDP Roster for the Fall U16-U17 Girls State Games. She is definitely a player to look out for and I look forward to seeing her rise in the state rankings.

Shea is a standout forward and midfielder. She was named the 2025 OSAA 5A Girls Soccer Co-Player of the Year while leading the “Lava Bears” to an EPIC season that ended at the state championship. Her ability to make “clinical finishes” has earned her the title of a “true striker.” She scored 21 goals and provided 13 assists last season. At camp, she stood out by making quick and precise combination passes, and she seemed to be comfortable playing the ball with both feet. She's another uncommitted player who should be getting more opportunities to compete at the next level.

She's a standout midfielder at Clovis West High School in Fresno, CA. Julie is also known for playing as a striker. While competing in the 08 Girls Academy for [program_tooltip program_id='287835' first='Clovis' last='Crossfire'], she signed her letter of intent to become a Pacific Tiger. The UOP commit has helped her high school team to 3 winning seasons, with a record of 15-4-2 last season and a ranking of #150 in California. At camp, I saw her calm and cool composure as she kept possession and made precise one- and two-touch passes. Her ability to hit players in stride was also where she stood out. On one of the drills, she stood toe-to-toe with the college players/camp assistants. Her level of play is definitely on par with Division 1 players.

Of the three goalkeepers at camp, she stood out the most. During the goalkeeper drills, she showed the ability to make tough stops as she showed some vertical skills as well as tipping high shots over the top. She seemed to have a good footwork as well, when playing the ball from the back. I really liked how she chose when to come off her line and take on players in 1 v 1 challenges. Her timing and intuition helped her to predict angles of attack and make critical stops. Alesandra is making a name for herself as she has 9 shutouts in 11 games with her high school team which is ranked #67 in California and #212 in the nation.
