The ECNL National Selection Match stole the show

Top-level players from around the nation put on a show, and goalkeepers and goal scorers did not disappoint.

USE THE PROMO CODE almasin30 for a discount on your first subscription

Here's just a glimpse of the full article as I am working on game coverage footage and player evaluations. Selection Match top performers were Goalkeepers: [player_tooltip player_id='111094' first='Sophia' last='Malloy'] and [player_tooltip player_id='206658' first='Areya-Sol' last='Garcia'] and Forward/Midfielders: Cali Smith, Evelyn Contreras, and [player_tooltip player_id='147282' first='Kendra' last='Hansen']. Other players will also be featured in the full National Selection Match article, which will be dropping soon.

I also want to give ECNL a shoutout for hosting a top-tier showcase. The venue at Reach 11 is one of the best soccer facilities I've attended, and the staff was great at answering all of my questions. While speaking with parents, they also echoed the same message as well. I'm hoping that my next ECNL event during the national playoffs in Washington will be as awesome as this venue.

She played lights out. Sophia made some great stops and showed her toughness after returning from a collision in the match. She didn't miss a beat once she returned and seemed to have forgotten the previous play while taking on a player making a run on goal. Her ability to read the offense sets her up in the right spots to take away attacking and shooting angles. The MVLA star will definitely make an immediate impact on the college of her choosing. June 15 will be a busy day of phone calls for her and her family. I look forward to seeing her and her team compete in the national playoffs while making a run to the natty.

Top Performance: [player_tooltip player_id='111094' first='Sophia' last='Malloy'] - MVLA Goalkeeper - 2028

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037876592190607664?s=20

The #2 ranked player in New Jersey, #2 in position, and #39 in the nation for the class of 2027 was locked in at the ECNL National Selection Match. She was quick on the ball and made crisp and precise passes. Showing her technical abilities and fierce competitiveness was a sight to see. Every time she touched the ball, the crowd would erupt as they anticipated something great. Of course, she delivered with an assist to Evelyn Contreras to put the East up 2-1. The Florida commit is ready for the next level and hopes to get her team qualified for the national playoffs.

She made some key saves in the match. A quick dive to her right, going up high, and cutting off the angle of a speedy forward were some of the skills she showed the crowd in the national selection match. Areya is a Guatemala U-17 Youth National Team player with experience playing at the international level. Her strengths are in using her athleticism to take on players in 1v1s. I really like how she can make key saves in critical moments as well as play the ball at her feet. She's been a clutch player for her MVLA team, and it will be great to see her and the team at the national playoffs in Washington this summer.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2038103892358205774?s=20

Goal #1 - National Selection Match

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037707393648525632?s=20

Goal #2 - National Selection Match

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037714567770603703?s=20

Goal #3 - National Selection Match (Goal by Evelyn Contreras and assist by Cali Smith)

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037720753916051513?s=20

Fans were on hand to cheer on their favorite players:

Connecticut FC - ECNL G2010

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037709853226102989?s=20

Oregon Surf

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037723495707382168?s=20

Washington United

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037724651678535851?s=20

National Selection Match - Pregame Introductions

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2037874819212177699?s=20
