A quick dive to her right, going up high, and cutting off the angle of a speedy forward were some of the skills she showed the crowd in the national selection match. Areya is a Guatemala U-17 Youth National Team player with experience playing at the international level. Her strengths are in using her athleticism to take on players in 1v1s. I really like how she can make key saves in critical moments as well as play the ball at her feet. She’s been a clutch player for her MVLA team, and it will be great to see her and the team at the national playoffs in Washington this summer.

She is not afraid to make 1v1 challenges when the opposition is making hard runs in the box. Her ability to cut off angles helps her to make runners take wide shots or take their eyes off the ball in the most crucial moments. She reads the game well and uses her athleticism towards her advantage.

Garcia is an incredibly active and athletic keeper, one who is brave and daring. She will come out for a ball and do so quickly, showing how decisive she is. She gets her decisions right, too. She is very good laterally as she gets to her posts quickly because of her reaction time and her ability to read the game. Her athleticism also allows her to cover shots trying to tuck inside the bar. She is a keeper who can control the game because of how she takes command.
