5 Rising Stars Ahead of California 2029 Rankings Drop

The Prep Soccer California 2029 rankings will be released next week. Prior to the release of the updated rankings, below is a scouting report on five players on the rise with scouts from this class.    Outside back [program_tooltip program_id='283389' first='LA' last='Breakers'] 2010 ECNL    US Soccer Talent ID    Angel City FC Talent ID    Stromsborg was an ECNL Southwest All-Conference Second Team selection last season. She has continued to be one of the top players in the conference this season and should be in the conversation as one of the best right backs in Southern California in the 2010 age group. She's been identified as such by scouts from the Youth National Team as well as professional clubs.    Stromsborg's two-way play is her best asset. She has a green light to get into the attack whenever she sees the opportunity. The nonstop runner covers a ton of ground and her effort never seems to drop off. She's excellent on the ball and plays with her head up. An underrated part of her game is her ability on the throw-in. She isn't a long throw specialist, but her strength and technique lets her exceed the average and tends to provide a chance or two per game with the speedy wingers from Breakers winning their 1v1 duels in those situations.    Stromsborg has been a key player on a squad that is battling every weekend for a top place in one of the most competitive conferences in the ECNL.      Midfielder [program_tooltip program_id='280776' first='Eagles' last='SC'] 2010 ECNL    US Soccer Talent ID Center    ECNL National Selection Game    Pimentel is an attacking midfielder for the [program_tooltip program_id='280776' first='Eagles' last='SC'] 2010 ECNL team. She was First Team All-Channel League as a freshman. She was also Second Team All-County for her play with Oxnard High School. She also competes in Track at distances of 800m and 1600m.    She can play in the center of the formation or on the wing. Her best attribute is her close control of the ball and ability to play under pressure. She is good at creating space with her body fakes. She's also quick to make decisions on the ball and can play one-touch soccer when needed. The distance running also shines in her full field runs. She's a willing defender and tracks her mark all over the field. Pimentel has been a recent call-up to US Soccer Talent ID events as her skill level suggests she is able to compete with the best in the region.      Center back [program_tooltip program_id='283389' first='LA' last='Breakers'] 2010 ECNL    ECNL All-Conference First Team    Captain    Marliani is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283389' first='LA' last='Breakers'] 2010 ECNL team. She also plays for the Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) varsity team. She is also part of the Cal South ODP team in the 2010 age group.    Marliani is established as a key player on the talented [program_tooltip program_id='283389' first='LA' last='Breakers'] side. She is a confident leader of the backline. Her best attributes are in possession of the ball. She is composed and calm on the ball. She plays with her head up and scans her options. She's a great passer for the position and puts the ball on the correct foot for her teammate to take the touch away from pressure.    Marliani is a secure defender. She isn't the type to fly into a tackle, but rather the kind of defender who will delay until she gets support. The savvy approach is a reason why Breakers has been so difficult to score against this season.      ECNL National Champion    Midfielder Rebels 2010 ECNL    Coastal League All-League as a freshman    Bakkeby is a center midfielder on the [program_tooltip program_id='283443' first='Rebels' last='SC'] 2010 ECNL team. She previously played for San Diego Surf 2011 ECNL. She is now playing up an age group with her new club team. She's five-foot-nine, right footed, and has a 4.4 GPA.    Playing up an age group at the ECNL level is impressive, being a standout playing against older competition is a whole other stratosphere of prospect. Bakkeby has been very good this season for a team that's been competitive in one of the most difficult conferences in the league. She's easy to spot with her towering height. She backs up that physical profile with a ton of skill. She's good with either foot - both on the pass and shot. She's a crafty player with elite traits. Her ball striking ability is among the best - and she has quite a few highlights from free kicks in the past year. She offers a strong all-around game along with the elite characteristics to be a top prospect in the class.      Girls Academy Generation Adidas Cup    Center back Lamorinda 2010    Girls Academy Talent ID     Steppe is a center back on the Lamorinda GA 2010 squad. She can play left or right center back. She's right footed. She's five-foot-nine and good in aerial duels. She was part of the Girls Academy Northwest Talent ID.    She's a top talent in the Girls Academy in California. She's got a strong all-around game. She's calm on the ball and shows a high-level tactical understanding with her positioning. She does well in getting to spots to support her teammates when trying to build out from the back. Stuppi earned a spot on the GA Navy team for the GA Cup in Florida and she looked the part among the best talent from that league.
