East Carolina University Committed Players

East Carolina University is a school located in the Inner Banks region of the state that is known for its passionate football fanbase. However, with the players that they've selected to represent them for the women's soccer team, we see that their ambition bleeds into our sport. This list of six players is highly talented and can help keep the team at the high level it has demonstrated as of late.    Ireland is a very talented right back with plenty of potential. Watching her play, you immediately see how strong she is. Any one-on-one or 50/50, she'll go in to dominate the situation. Given how strong she is, it impresses how clean she is. She combines her phenomenal strength with phenomenal intelligence. Another physical attribute she has in her locker is her pace. She is very quick, helping her regain ground when needed. Offensively, she offers great support by inverting or overlapping wonderfully.     Laney is a very talented and unique center back. One of her most defining attributes is how fast she is. Though she doesn't need to rely on it, when she does, she does so fantastically. Her anticipation is what I would say is her key defining attribute defensively. Whether it's in her own third or in the middle of the pitch, she'll make sure to get to the ball before any danger can materialize. Offensively is where she becomes unique, in my opinion. Her ball-playing is superb, though this isn't all she has to offer. She is a dynamic, attack-minded center back who will dribble through the middle effectively. She clears the area with the ease you expect from a midfielder. Her chance creation is also remarkable, especially given where she creates them from.     Emma is a promising attacker who can also play as an attacking midfielder. What stood out the most to me was her ball striking. Whether she shoots from inside or outside the box doesn't matter. The power she gets on them is wonderful to watch. This makes her an unpredictable player when she gets the ball because she also doesn't need much space to generate power. She translates this talent into set pieces, scoring plenty of free-kick goals. In the box, she shows fantastic composure. The level-headedness to know where to place the ball in such a short time is crucial to her game and makes her highly effective. When she's not on the ball, her movement into space helps her get the ball in positions for her to show off her effectiveness.     Emery plays as a striker and can also play as a winger. However, I think her talents see her best suited to play as a second striker or attacking midfielder. She is very technically gifted, which allows her to operate in central and half spaces effectively. This, in turn, allows her to help the team be more fluid and quick when moving forward. She is a tactical player, knowing where she needs to move and how to react to maximize the most out of an attack. Whenever she needs to move into space, she shows how fast she is. In short spaces, she shows how great of a dribbler she is.     Mackenzie is a polyfunctional player who plays best as a midfielder. She can occupy any midfield role and pass with flying colors. Her passing is fantastic. Low driven through balls or long passes that break lines aren't too different for her in terms of quality and ease. It doesn't matter if she plays closer or further from the final third, she'll find a way to create chances constantly. She is also very attack-minded when it comes to dribbling. Her dribbles are piercing and purposeful. She opens up space for her and her team to operate in effectively. This is aided by her physicality. She doesn't make it easy to get the ball off of her if her marker is closing in on her. This translates to her defensive facet too. She enforces her presence in the middle of the mark to make sure opposing attacks don't go far.     Olivia is an extremely promising center back who can also play as a right back or stopper in a back three. She is aggressive but clean, prioritizing regaining possession over simply snuffing out an attack. This also makes her very imposing wherever she is deployed. She doesn't allow for anything to get past her if she can help it. If something does get past her, she'll do everything she possibly can to correct it. Her blistering pace helps her accomplish anything you can think of defensively. In possession, her ball-playing is fantastic. She always looks for a pass that can lead to more than just a drawn-out string of possession. If she can create chances herself by breaking lines, she will. She shows a level of maturity and intelligence seen only by brilliant talents at this age.
