I was able to capture some sensational goals during the high school season. Here is part 2 of my top 5 goals for the Girls NorCal season, starting with the midpoint of the season, moving on down towards the end of league competition, and some footage from the playoffs.

Highlights in this article are when teams are making their run to a playoff spot in section competition and section playoffs. Future volumes will continue section tournaments, the NorCal and SoCal tournaments, and the inaugural state championships. I want to give a huge thanks to all the high school athletic directors and coaches for having me feature their teams and players.

The players represented some of the best teams in California as well as in the nation. Leading the group is San Ramon Valley, the Division 2 California champions, followed by Bishop O'Dowd, the runner-up to the Division I title; Carondelet, which had a dominating league run; and Saint Francis, the perennial powerhouse of NorCal soccer that's always in the mix.

Top-level Teams:

San Ramon Valley - 17-3-2 Overall, 5-2-2 (4th Place in League), #12 in the Nation and #2 in CA

Bishop O'Dowd - 19-1 Overall, 10-0 (1st Place in League), #24 in the Nation and #4 in CA

Carondelet - 16-4-3, 9-0 (1st Place in League), #61 in the Nation and #12 in CA

Saint Francis - 19-2-1 Overall, 11-0-1 (1st Place in League), #64 in the Nation and #13 in CA

Featured Goal scorers:

Penelope Correa - 2026 - Saint Francis - Saint Mary's commit

[player_tooltip player_id='111089' first='Kaylie' last='Giusti'] - 2028 - Saint Francis

Chloe Keating - 2026 - Bishop O'Dowd - UC Davis commit

Elle Sloan - 2026 - Carondelet - Houston commit

[player_tooltip player_id='336411' first='Morgan' last='Van Puffelen'] - 2029 - San Ramon Valley

Player Evaluations:

Penelope Correa - 2026 - Saint Francis - Midfielder - #69 in CA and #51 in position - Saint Mary's commit

In this match, the Saint Mary's commit had a dominating performance while scoring a hat trick to advance her team to a back-to-back CCS D1 Final. She scored goals #1, #3, and #4. With the 1st goal, Penny received a pass just outside of the 18 and slipped by one defender while slipping the ball past the goalkeeper and a second defender. Her second goal came off of a penalty kick from the outer left corner, timing it perfectly while running onto the ball for a driving shot past the GK. Goal #3 was purely based on individual effort to get past 2 defenders with a run to the penalty area for a rocket shot past the GK. Penny was definitely the player of the match, scoring 3 of the Lancers' 6 goals. Penny was named to the 2025-2026 WCAL (West Catholic Athletic League) First Team All-League.

Penny's Highlights: Hat-Trick Performance

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2027241966568894815?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id='111089' first='Kaylie' last='Giusti'] - 2028 - Saint Francis

The [program_tooltip program_id='278033' first='MVLA' last='ECNL'] G09 player got goal #6 for the Lancers. A cross was sent from the left touchline in which the goalkeeper tipped towards the top of the 18. Kaylie was in the perfect spot to strike the ball with pace to the back of the net. Her patience and technique were the difference between sending it home or over the top. I like how she played calm throughout the match. I've previously covered her in ECNL matches. Most recently, I saw her compete at ECNL Phoenix. Her strong showing indicates that she will be a big part of the Saint Francis attack next season as well as called upon to help her club team during the Spring ECNL season.

Kaylie's Highlights: Goal #6 for Saint Francis

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2027270943333372012?s=20

Chloe Keating - 2026 - Bishop O'Dowd - UC Davis commit

In this match the UC Davis commit was the Player of the Match. Chloe scored Bishop O'Dowd's first match as well as the Golden Goal. Throughout the match, she remained “cool, calm, and composed.” She didn't let the high stress and magnitude of the game get to her. She delivered when it mattered the most. Chloe is also one of only two starters to start in all four years for the Dragons. She ends her career with 42 goals scored and 36 assists at the varsity level. Chloe was a big part of the Dragons offense as well as a top-level performer in key matches.

Chloe's Highlights: Goal #1 and the Golden Goal

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2028675270954385474?s=20

[player_tooltip player_id='336411' first='Morgan' last='Van Puffelen'] - 2029 - San Ramon Valley

In this match, the San Ramon Valley forward scored the only goal of the match in the final seven minutes of regulation. It was a great sequence of events as Dodson drove the ball into the attacking third, before laying it off to [player_tooltip player_id='20037' first='Olivia' last='Wheatley'] , who found Van Puffelen just outside of the left corner on the edge of the 18. Her quick control, touch, and perfectly placed shot dipped below the top-left corner post to barely get by a diving goalkeeper. It was a perfectly placed shot which decided who will represent NorCal in the inaugural CIF Division II state championship. Her awesome play gave her co-player of the match honors. Morgan will be a player who will be called upon next year to help the Wolves to another epic season and possibly compete for a league championship.

Morgan's Highlights: Game winning goal to take team to the NorCal Division II Title Match and Co-Player of the Match.

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2030445183205322965?s=20

Elle Sloan - 2026 - Carondelet - Houston commit

In this match, the Houston commit got goals on the day. The dynamic duo of Elle Sloan and [player_tooltip player_id='199883' first='Mercy' last='Karson'] was simply awesome to see. Mercy provided the two assists, while Elle scored her two goals with dramatic fashion. Elle's first goal was scored on a put-back pass from Karson, and the second was off of a perfectly placed header to seal the deal. Her ability to find soft spots on the field allows her to play without immediate pressure. She's a smart and calculative player. Sloane showed the ability to process the flow of the game quickly and make split-second decisions on attack. Her style of play will easily transition to the college level. While putting up 14 goals and 2 assists in her final year, she should be proud of the Cougars' run at an NCS Open title as the runner-up team to a stacked Bishop O'Dowd squad.

Elle's Highlights: Dominating 2nd half goals

https://twitter.com/BayAreaSocScout/status/2024739025089892447?s=20
