GA Playoffs Texas Team Preview: Atletico Dallas 10

<p>After almost ten months of action, the Girls Academy League season is entering its final stretch, with only the best teams from each conference still alive in the battle to win the national title.</p>   <p>A critical moment of the season will unfold from June 18-23, in Norco, California, where the league playoffs will be held. 36 teams will compete in the U15, U16, and U17 age groups, with eight advancing to the League Finals, which will be held in Richmond, Virginia, from July 9-12. The U19 age group has only 12 teams in contention and will have the national champions crowned in Norco.</p>   <p>Six teams from Texas qualified to compete in the playoffs and will be in action in California over the next few days. In the days leading up to the event, we'll preview them:</p>   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">[program_tooltip program_id='333974' first='Atletico' last='Dallas'] 10</h2>   <p>The Dallas side had the third-best campaign in the league's Frontier Conference. [program_tooltip program_id='333974' first='Atletico' last='Dallas'] played 18 matches and produced 12 wins, four losses and two ties, amassing 38 points.</p>   <p><strong>Their Opponents</strong></p>   <p>[program_tooltip program_id='333974' first='Atletico' last='Dallas'] will be part of Group F in the GA playoffs. Their first opponents in the event will be North Carolina's Charlotte Independence FC, California's South Valley Surf SC and New Jersey's Cedar Stars Academy - Monmouth.</p>   <p><strong>Their Squad</strong></p>   <p>Jaclyn Pondexter and Harper Sims are the goalkeepers on the roster. Options for the backline include Addyson Smith, Irelyn Culver, Linden Gibbs, Piper Silverthorn, Krystian Cloutier, Valentina Khabbaz and Isabella Stott. Manning the midfield are Avery Landphair, Rylee Spencer, Brooklyn James, Karsyn Daniell, Teagan Pettijohn, Isabella Sallas, Kelsey Allison and Jaileen Gamez. She's one of the team's defensive pillars, combining nice physical tools and excellent instincts to shut opponents down. Landphair is very tough to beat 1v1 as she reads opponents extremely well and is patient to force them into the spot she wants before winning the ball. She's also very good in the air, standing out for her positioning and timing when attempting to clear long passes. She's mostly used on the wings and has an interesting profile to play there, with quick feet and great ability to dribble in tight spaces. Patzkowski is very athletic and handles contact from defenders extremely well, making it even harder for those who attempt to stop her when she gets going. She has good vision and uses it to provide service to teammates in great spots and to engage in combination plays. Tall and athletic, she can serve as the focal point of their offense at the center forward spot or work on the wings. Ingram is lethal inside the box, timing her runs behind the backline extremely well and creating good separation from opposing center back, but also thrives when she drops deeper to work with her back to the goal and set teammates up with intelligent passes.
