Five Goalies to Know From the Updated Texas 2029 Girls Rankings

<p>After some months, the Prep Soccer 2029 Texas Girls State Ranking was updated earlier this week, with new players being added to the prestigious list that features only the best of the best in the Lone Star State and the existing ones having their positions adjusted ahead of the start of the 2026-2027 club season.</p>   <p>The ranking will continue to be consistently updated so it accurately reflects the progress achieved by players over time and presents a clear picture of the Texas landscape, always keeping in mind each prospect's potential to make an impact at the next level.</p>   <ul class="wp-block-list"> <li><strong><a href="https://prepsoccer.com/texas/rankings/girls/2029-rankings/">Texas 2029 Girls State Rankings</a></strong></li> </ul>   <p>The updated Texas 2029 Girls State Rankings now feature 170 players from every corner of the Lone Star State, and we're taking the week to present you with some of the most intriguing names that made the list. Pay attention to these goalkeepers:</p>    <p class="text-gray-700">Rodriguez is the top-ranked prospect in our updated Rankings. The goalkeeper attends Cristo Rey High School and plays for [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] in the ECNL League. She's one of the top goalkeepers in the country and is frequently part of USYNT training camps. Rodriguez is a rare goalkeeper who is both very reliable, rarely spilling shots or being caught out of position, and spectacular, making jaw-dropping stops on shots fired on the corners. She plays high school soccer for Highland Park and represents Sting Black in the ECNL League. Birdwell is on the taller side of goalkeepers in the age group and uses her length to stand out as an elite shot-stopper between the posts. She moves very well laterally and is very explosive, having the ability to reach the upper corners with her stretched arms, while also being very quick to get to the ground. She goes to Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart and competes in the ECNL League with [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC']. Her reflexes and quickness between the posts make of her one of the best shot-stoppers in the age group. Allen does a great job of extending her arms to increase her body range, but is also very intentional and intelligent with how she uses her legs, often performing impressive stops on low shots. She's part of Humble High School's varsity team and plays club soccer for Rise SC in the Girls Academy League. Mireles is very technical with her actions between the posts, handling long-distance shots well and successfully getting into the right spots to catch crosses. She's very good at making decisions and doesn't hesitate before leaving her spot to get to the ball, intercepting passes sent behind her backline at a good rate. The goalkeeper is part of Crandall High School and features for [program_tooltip program_id='333974' first='Atletico' last='Dallas'] in the Girls Academy League. Pondexter has good size, solid athleticism and firm hands, a combination that allows her to make nice stops between the posts, especially when dealing with high shots. The goalkeeper is very aggressive when she needs to step up and challenge opponents 1v1 and does a great job of limiting their options.
