GA Summer Playoffs and Showcase Day 3 Standouts

Day three of the tourney was led by some top-level U17 and U19 players with impressive plays and tournament highlights. The Lamornida SC U17 team, which put up 5 goals against Seacoast United and won all three of their matches and a fourth match (Round of 16) against Syracuse Development Academy (SDA) on June 23, 2026, will continue its quest in an Elite Eight matchup. LAMO has the talent, discipline, and technical players to possibly go all the way. Of all the matches I've covered during this event, it seemed as if the players were one of the most calm, cool, and collected teams.   Their style of play might seem predictive at times, but that is when they will switch it up on teams and find soft spots and execute precision-driven plays with speed on the wings and runners slashing through the box for high-percentage shots on goal. I've mainly covered ECNL matches and tournaments thus far, but this is one of the most complete teams, which I would put up against any top-tier ECNL squad. Super excited to see how far they can go in their quest for a Natty.   The standout players for LAMO were [player_tooltip player_id='223644' first='Liliana' last='Rubio'], [player_tooltip player_id='379860' first='Stella' last='Beuchotte'], and Isabella O'Callaghan. Rubio had one of the best 2nd half performances I've ever seen, and she capped it off with one of the best one-two goals. Beuchotte and O'Callaghan provided two goals apiece, which were top-level finishes as well. Overall, this team has what it takes to get it done. One of their standout players was Emma Cordulack, who provided one of the goals.  Her strong presence in the attacking third made her the focal point of their attack.   One of the late matchups featured [program_tooltip program_id='283391' first='LA' last='Surf'] vs. Broomfield Soccer Club out of Colorado. This U19 match was intense as Broomfield opened up the scoring with a 13th-minute goal and led at the half 2-1. [player_tooltip player_id='285840' first='Sorela' last='Ocko'] scored Surf's equalizer to level the score. [player_tooltip player_id='155486' first='Avery' last='McCormack'] of Surf got the PK goal. The technical skills, quick movement of the ball, and exciting runs led to the intensity of the match. Many of the players are still uncommitted and ready to take the leap to the college level. Her technical skills are off the charts. She made quick and precise passes in tight spaces while hitting players in perfect stride. Playing primarily as a winger, she showed her top-level speed and her ability to get by multiple defenders with shifty moves and fluidity of play usually seen in players at the pro level. Don't let her size fool you. Lili can go toe-to-toe with the toughest players on the pitch. Her hard, yet clean, tackles are a testament to the improvements in key areas. Here cutback, slicing moves, and a one-two pass and finish were simply amazing. Liliana previously played for the Mexico Youth Federation but is now eligible to play for the USYNT. It would be great to see her get an invite, as her skill sets and high soccer IQ would be beneficial to any team. Her ability to make string runs to the box, send long passes over the top, and fire shots from range is where she stood out. I really like her versatility, as she seemed to play primarily as a striker but was also lined up on the wings. Sorela is a smart player who looks for open pockets, and she plays with a no-fear attitude and high levels of intensity. Her presence on the field was felt by the opposing team as she had one of the most touches in the second half, and she got her team's second goal to level the match at 2-2. Her high-press and strong runs in the attacking third kept the defense on their toes. Stella was good at finding open pockets and creating space to fire off shots on goal. One of her goals came off of a header in a well place cross, where she finished the play without being contested. Her ability to find attacking lanes also added to her quick diagonal runs into open space. She's a player who can get lost in the crowd, but once she sees scoring opportunities, she will commit to the play and give her team a run at goal.
