Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
After a somewhat quiet first half, the senior forward took charge of the game and played a key role in Stratford’s comeback, getting involved in the team’s three goals. Goodwin improved her movement during the match and consistently got into good spots to get on the ball and make plays. Her runs with the ball and her ability to beat defenders off the dribble were huge weapons for the Spartans and helped them find space in Jordan’s tight backline. Goodwin leveled the score with a beautiful shot after a great play on the right, started the play that resulted in the team’s second goal and drew the penalty kick that gave the team the chance to score the third one.

A dangerous wide player, Goodwin adds a different dimension to Stratford’s offense with her runs on and off the ball. She can play on either side of their attack, but is probably at her best on the right, playing very aggressively and going at defenders to create chances. Goodwin controls the ball extremely well and is capable of last-second moves that get defenders out of shape. She’s also very dangerous when bringing the ball inside and is ice-gold when finishing inside the penalty box. Goodwin is a hard-worker too, who does a great job of putting pressure on opposing defenders.

Goodwin scored Stratford’s game-winning goal and was rewarded for her effort on the field. Playing mostly on the right side of the team’s attack, she ran a lot and was very tired and dealing with an injury, but still found the energy to make the run that decided the match – the forward timed her move extremely well and did a great job of picking up a simpler, yet efficient solution to put the ball in the back of the net. Goodwin was very active in the second half and was creating all sorts of problems for Memorial’s backline with her runs on the right – she took the ball to the end line on some occasions and brought it inside on others.

A winger with great pace and excellent movement, Goodwin is a constant offensive threat for the Spartans. She typically plays on the right and is very good at beating defenders off the dribble and creating chances, especially when in space. Goodwin is very direct, giving defenders no time to gameplan against her, and displays good variation, taking the ball to wider positions or bringing it inside. She finishes well with both feet and also does a very good job of getting to the end of crosses. The winger is also very intelligent in the way she pressures opposing defenders when they have the ball.

A pacey and skilled player on the ball, Goodwin had great moments playing on the right side of Stratford’s attack. She’s at her best when she has space in front of her to explore as that’s when she can use her dribbling ability and her pace to beat defenders. The fact that Goodwin can always take the ball inside to finish or push it to the end line in order to create for a teammate often kept defenders out of balance when trying to stop her and the forward took full advantage of it, making quick and aggressive moves. She’s also really good at pressuring defenders when the Spartans don’t have the ball.
