Texas 2027 Class: Seven Summer Club Playoff Standouts

There was a lot to love about her showing in the final against Minnesota Thunder. She is so active on the ball in just subtle movements to create space to receive the ball. She rarely loses possession but when she does, the switch is immediately on and she hustles in the counter press to win it back quickly. Hernandez is going to be a star in this game for a long time. She's got the rare combination of elite skill and pace. She made a ridiculously good save in first half against Minnesota Thunder Academy in the Championship tilt. Did well coming off her line in the second half to stop a breakaway chance. Needs to do better on organizing her defense and controlling the box on set pieces. She is getting crowded and having a hard time getting the freedom to track the ball and move her feet. The team came up just short of advancing out of a top group in the Champions League playoffs, but the few 2027s on the roster took a big step forward which is an encouraging sign for their development and potential. Anderson was a fun player to scout at the ECNL event. She is a speedy forward who can contribute in a variety of ways. The immediate standout from her game was her quality defensive as she pressed with enthusiasm and unlimited energy. She showed quality on the ball too and had some good combination sequences in the game against World Class. The attacking midfielder is a player who could be one of the best in the ECNL Texas Conference next season. There is a high ceiling on her potential and she continues to grow into a bigger role within her team as her confidence grows. An aspect of her game that stood out from the playoffs was her ability to create separation from defenders and her comfort in receiving the ball while having a player on her back. She is always working to be an option for her teammates. When she is on the ball, she is exceptional at retaining possession for her side. She can play the pass to progress up the field, but she shows a preference to making the decision to keep it with her side rather than risk it. The forward scored a wonderful header goal in the 3-3 draw against World Class. She earned an invite to the National Talent ID event for the Girls Academy this summer. I saw Martinez play on the left wing during the playoffs in June with her club side. She is a technical player who is skillful on the ball. She is a talented distributor and can hit a quality pass with either foot.
