Guilherme Torres | Prep Soccer Scout
Brown will be with Austin FC in their matches against Minnesota United, Chicago Fire and New York City FC in the U17 division in Arizona. One of the top outside backs in his age group, he’s an interesting attacking weapon for his team. Brown is very offensive-minded and does a great job of staying wide and creating space inside for his teammates to explore. Very fast and aggressive on the ball, he’s extremely strong off the dribble and can be very difficult to stop when he takes the ball down the left flank. Brown also plays as a winger, preferably on the right, and typically creates problems when he brings the ball inside to finish with his left foot.

An offensive-minded left back, Brown had a busy first half, getting on the ball a lot and getting involved in many of his team’s attacking plays. He was always very wide on the left and helped his team stretch the field and create space for combination plays in the center. Despite always having a Dynamo player near him, Brown still managed to be successful on some of the occasions he pushed forward, beating them off the dribble and making strong runs to get to the endline and cross the ball. During the second half, he was moved to the right wing after Monarres was taken off, but seemed fatigued and didn’t get on the ball as much.

A versatile player, Brown appears for the Austin FC U15 team that is part of Group 1, alongside CF Montreal, FC Bay Area Surf and Baltimore Armour – he’s also been playing up with the U16 team, so maybe that’s where he’s going to be in Maryland. A very quick and skilled player, Brown can play left back or on either wing, using his pace and dribbling ability to create chances for his team. He’s very strong in 1v1 plays, but also makes excellent runs without the ball to attack the space behind the backline. A lefty, Brown has power and precision in his shots and is also a scoring option when operating around or inside the penalty box. He also handles his defensive duties well, playing with good energy and determination without the ball.

Brown was very important for Austin because of his versatility and his production. A high-energy player, he started the match playing as an invested right winger and was very dangerous there, using his dribbling and ball control to beat defenders in 1v1 situations and making strong and intelligent runs behind the backline to get passes. He scored the team’s goal in the match by coming inside the penalty box to finish a play that developed on the left and striking a powerful and well-placed shot into the back of the net. Brown played part of the second half at left back and was very efficient there as well. He not only used his offensive quality to contribute to the team’s attack, but was also very solid defensively, getting the better of more physical players.
