Prep Soccer Texas Girls ID Camp: Defenders to Know

Defender's ran the show during a blazing day under the Texas sun. Texas's edition of the Prep Soccer Girls ID Camp was a highlight reel for multiple outstanding defenders looking to make a name for themselves in front of the college coaches in attendance. These young athletes overcame the harsh conditions and put on a showcase to remember for everyone in attendance. Playing with tenacity and composure, these defenders put their defensive prowess on display for all to see. Hard tackles, high-level footballing intelligence and pure confidence were all traits of the defenders that were within the camp.   These athletes earned all the recognition and should all be seen as high-level recruiting options from the upcoming recruiting classes. The following athletes were some of the most exciting, hardworking and gifted players in attendance.    [player_tooltip player_id='112588' first='Charlie' last='Tuzzolino'] is a dynamic defender with outstanding crossing ability from the class of 2027. Tuzzolino is able to consistently find the byline and deliver dangerous passes into the box. Tuzzolino's intelligence on the pitch, combined with her quick decision making boosted her team's ability to press down the field. Tuzzolino uses strength, physicality and fearlessness to get stuck in and hinder the opposing team's press.    Tuzzolino stands at 5'6 and has a solid build that she is able to use effectively both on the attack and during the defense. She utilizes her athleticism to cover large amounts of ground quickly and gives her the ability to make a difference for her team on both sides of the ball. Butcher will take shots from various angles and positions on the pitch, allowing her to boost her team's attack and apply dangerous pressure to the opposition. Butcher combines her offensive ability with solid tackling and excellent communication along the defensive line. Butcher's versatility and adaptability on the pitch makes her an extremely useful player for her team on both sides of the ball.    Butcher comes in at 5'4 and uses her strength to hold off attacking players. Butcher's strong work ethic and technical ability allow her to bring balance to her team's defensive line. Sluder does extremely well to spread the field using off the ball movement and accurate passing. She has the ability to take space where available and push her teammates transition down the field. She works well on both sides of the ball and doesn't mind getting stuck in when necessary.   Sluder is 5'5 and has a balanced physical profile. Her technique and positional awareness give her an advantage as a defender. Wilson is able to turn smoothly when under pressure and deliver pounding tackles to kill the attack. Wilson brings energy to her backline and works cohesively with her teammates as a tactical unit. Wilson's commitment to her defense and physicality when pressing make her one of the most important pieces to her team's backline.    Wilson comes in at 5'5 and is effective physically. Her high energy and good pace allow her to get stuck in during competitive 50/50's. Foster makes charging runs from the back line and uses good technical ability with both feet to distribute the ball to her teammates.Foster's movement on and off the ball is equally as important, giving her teammates passing options in all aspects of their play. Foster fills passing lanes offensively and disrupts these channels during her defensive transition. Foster overall is very dependable on the ball and does well to help her team control possession.    Foster stands at 5'6 and uses her physicality as one of her main tools to find success on the pitch. Foster has great athleticism and solid technical ability, allowing her to contribute to her team in various ways. Leddy has great tackling ability and does well to show fantastic consistency when stepping into tackles. Leddy's well-timed challenges and good instincts on the defensive side of the ball make her a great addition to any defensive line.   Leddy stands at 5'7 and uses her speed and agility to cover ground effectively on the backline. Leddy has solid defensive skills that are boosted by her good physical presence. Leddy is very reliable and doesn't over step when pressing.     [player_tooltip player_id='210608' first='Ava' last='Brennan'] is a patient and technically gifted defender from the class of 2027. Brennan's comfort on the ball was very apparent and her use of both her feet shows that she enjoys working on the little things in her game. Brennan is calm under pressure and maintains good vision that allows her to make intelligent runs into passing lanes and maintain control of the ball within tight spaces. Brennan's ability to read the game and keep her composure are key strengths and gives her a large advantage over the opposition.   At 5'7, Brennan has the height and the physical strength to be a presence within the defensive unit. Brennan's lateral movement and good balance allow her to dribble the ball out of danger. Sexton is a college-read, complete defender from the class of 2027. Sexton's calmness, confidence and composure within the backline was next level. Driving the ball into space, pushing the backline forward and overall becoming a dominant force on the pitch were the trademarks of Sexton's day. Sexton was excellent at finding and creating passing lanes and utilized her size effectively to act as a physical force.    Sexton stands at 5'11 and uses her strength well to make her an imposing force along the backline. Although Sexton stands tall at 5'11, she is surprisingly quick and moves with good agility when on the ball. Technically and tactically, Sexton is very solid and more than ready to challenge at the next level. Sexton has plenty of time to continue to develop, however this young defender is without a question one to keep your eyes on.
