ECNL Girls Week 8 Northern Cal Conference Standouts

The last set of fixtures in this conference before the High School break. Bay Area Surf VS MVLA was the most intriguing match-up across age groups. MVLA was able to pick up 4 wins from the 6 games with Surf taking one win and one draw from the other two games. However, every game was competitive and both of these clubs are two of the top 10 clubs in the whole country.    She was immense against Surf. The way she leads her team from the back makes me want to lace my cleats up and play with her. She directs her teammates masterfully and her passing range is enormous for a girl her age. She also had an incredible goal line clearance that helped secure a tie for her MVLA side.     Playing a year up against one of the best teams in the country Travers again proving why she is so highly ranked. She was playing Center Back against a very well balanced MVLA attack and she was up to every challenge that was thrown her way. I haven't seen another defender in the country her age who has the ability to break one or even two lines on the dribble the way she can. She is steps ahead of 99% of her peers when it comes to reading the game.     The winger extraordinaire had a big game against Placer United. She scored both goals in 2-0 win. One goal was an awesome elastico she bent in with her wand of a right foot. Her second goal was an incredible individual effort where she picked the ball up in the right channel and beat a couple of players and tucked a shot right into the near post with her left foot that sealed the game.     Despite the 2-1 loss Leifried had a tremendous performance. She won and took a penalty that lead to her teams only goal. She makes so many plays on both ends of the field and on both sides of the ball. She heads into ECNL Phoenix as one of the players who will be participating in the National Selection All-Star game.     PJB has to be the scariest girl to get pressed by in her class. She closes like a freight train and causes so many turnovers. That is exactly how she scored her goal against Bay Area Surf in her teams 2-1 win. She is developing into quite the player. Her technique is improving every week and her game awareness is coming leaps and bounds. Being in the MVLA ecosystem is a perfect fit for this young star.     After going 2-0 down against Placer United, Ferraro went into BEASTMODE. She took the ball from her teams defensive half and dribbled through the entire Placer United team which included 4 players in the 18 yard box that then lead to a back post stunner of a shot. She continued to apply pressure for the remainder of the game and she played a big role in San Juan equalizing late in the second half to salvage a point.     Moodie was rock solid for Bay Area Surf against MVLA in a 1-1 draw. She dominates the game physically, she's so strong and fast it is very difficult for attackers to get by her. Her positioning has vastly improved from when I've watched her play in the past as well. She can fit the ball into extremely tight windows with her excellent left foot. She's a power 4 Division 1 scholarship player without a shadow of a doubt.     Kirby had a great game against Placer United scoring a goal in a 4-1 win. She is a very creative player who is dangerous with the ball at her feet. She's also an extremely hard worker who presses and hounds the opposition relentlessly. She brings it week in, week out. She is widely regarded as being one the most consistent performers.     Outlaw scored her teams only goal in fantastic fashion on a great dribble and shot right outside of the 18 yard box against an MVLA team with a fantastic defense. She is on a three game scoring streak headed into ECNL Phoenix.     The defensive midfielder was outstanding against Bay Area surf. She dictated tempo and was everywhere defensively to help secure a huge 2-1 win for her team.     Correa scored an incredible header to help her team achieve a 2-1 win. The attacking midfielder who is committed to St Mary's is great in the pockets and very creative in her offensive game. Her technique is sound and has exquisite vision.
