The ECNL League 2025-2026 season continues to progress every weekend, with matches on both genders taking place all over the country for the first of several months of action that will follow.

Prep Soccer Texas will closely follow the progress of the ECNL season for local boys and girls teams for the next several months, attending matches and showcases held in the Lone Star State to produce articles, photos and social media posts that highlight the impressive performances and accomplishments from our players.

On Saturday, October 11, we attended the match between [program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] B10 and [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'] B10 at the Campbell Road Sports Park, in Houston. Pushed by a hat-trick from their star forward [player_tooltip player_id='190974' first='Francisco' last='Sanchez Moreno'], the home team triumphed 4-2.

[program_tooltip program_id='283243' first='Albion' last='Hurricanes FC'] B10 vs. [program_tooltip program_id='283397' first='[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last='']' last='SC'] Black B10 - Photos

Playing at home, Albion had a strong start to the match and took less than 15 minutes to build a 3-0 lead in the first half after Sanchez Moreno scored twice and fellow forward Noah Paluk got another one.

[program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last=''] fought back in the second half and scored early with forward Sylar Calderon. A few minutes later, Sanchez Moreno got his third goal in the match and got his team into the driver's seat again. Midfielder Aksel Rusing got another one for [program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last=''], but Albion were able to preserve their lead until the end.

After the weekend, Albion have 13 points in the Texas Conference with four wins, one loss and one tie, and rank third - they will play Real Colorado Academy on the road on October 18. [program_tooltip program_id='278668' first='Lonestar' last=''] are at the bottom of teh standings with no points (eight losses) and their next match will be against [program_tooltip program_id='283648' first='FC' last='Dallas'] Red on the road, also on October 18.

Players of the Match

Sanchez Moreno decided the match for Albion with three goals, but his importance in the team's victory went well beyond that. Playing with tremendous freedom, he circulated very well in the attacking half and was heavily involved in the team's playmaking. Extremely technical and intelligent, the forward made things happen every time he got on the ball, making excellent choices in possession and demonstrating incredible vision with his passing, finding teammates behind the backline and playing smart first-time passes. Sanchez Moreno was very calm in front of the goal and also had great success with his dribbling, using his superior ball control and quick moves to beat defenders.

Flores-Martinez anchored Albion's backline and had a strong defensive performance for them. Playing in the center of their back three, he stepped up when Lonestar pushed forward, making strong plays inside and around the penalty box and was not at fault in any of the opponents' goals. The center back also had a key role in the team's buildup, breaking lines with his intelligent passing and patiently moving the ball around to wait for the right opportunity to do so. He also supported teh team's offense on some occasions, displaying good quality to dribble the ball forward and sending nice crosses into the box.

Albion's most defensive-minded midfielder, Reynoso Garza did a great job shielding the team's backline. He played with great intensity off the ball and covered a lot of ground in the center of the field, winning many duels and helping his team recover possession. He also appeared well on the ball, being extremely reliable and efficient with his passing and distributing the ball well when he stepped into the attacking half.

Playing on the left side of Albion's midfield, Koah was a strong attacking option for them. Very quick and skilled on the ball, he didn't hesitate to go at defenders and managed to create some chances in 1v1 plays out wide, sending some nice crosses into the box and getting some shots on goal. The winger also did a good job of remaining onside in most of the runs he made behind Lonestar's backline.

A defensive midfielder, Tanco was one of Lonestar's top players in the match. He was very intense and dynamic at protecting the team's backline and worked hard as he attempted to stop Albion's plays through the center of the field. The midfielder also worked well in possession, connecting short passes that allowed his team to keep the ball and finding their attacking players with long passes. Tanco also had an important role in the team's high press, which allowed Lonestar to win the ball on Albion's half on some occasions and pushed the team to have its best moment in the match.

Playing as a wide midfielder on the right, Rusing was one of Lonestar's main attacking options against Albion.
