Top New Defenders in the California 2029 Rankings Update

The Prep Soccer state rankings for California's 2029 class will be released this week. Prior to the release of the updated rankings, read a scouting report on 11 new defenders to the rankings.     Bonner is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283395' first='Legends' last='FC'] 2011 ECNL team. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. She was also called into the U14 GNT West Regional ID Camp in February of 2025.    She is a rangy center back who can do-it-all. She's excellent on the ball and makes good decisions on when to progress the ball up the field. She's a creative passer and finds a variety of ways to break down the defense.    Bonner is a fiercely competitive player who has shown the traits to be considered among the elite in the state in her role.      Longhenry is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283641' first='De' last='Anza Force'] 2011 ECNL team. She plays left center back on her club team. She's right footed, but comfortable on either foot. She's an asset on the ball. She makes good decisions. She's got the playing style of a player who used to feature as a midfielder. She's also a strong defender. She uses her body well in the duel and is smart about poking the ball away when the forward takes a bad touch. Longhenry is having an outstanding campaign with the De Anza side.       Casey is an outside back on Almaden 2011 Girls Academy. She has been a frequent call up to the US Soccer Talent ID events in Northern California. She is a speedy defender who could feature as a wingback as well. She has plenty of speed and even looked like one of the most dynamic attacking talents at the varsity level during the past high school season. Casey's two-way quality shines on the field. She has deceiving speed that allows her to intercept passes and start the attack in the opposite direction. She's got all the traits to be a top outside back in this class at the national level.       Seymour is a center back on the [program_tooltip program_id='283257' first='Bay' last='Area Surf'] 2011 ECNL team. She primarily plays as the left center back. She's right footed. Seymour is a standout 1v1 defender as a center back. She is excellent in space. She's strong and hard to knock off the ball and put off balance. She controls the forward with her positioning and use of her body. She's also a standout passer. She's got good vision and makes good decisions on the ball. She's quickly emerging as one of the top talents in Northern California.     Magana is a defender on the [program_tooltip program_id='280776' first='Eagles' last='SC'] 2011 ECNL team. She plays left center back for her club team. She is an excellent athlete, good on-ball defender, and has a strong all-around game. Magana is right footed. She tends to limit her touches on the ball and looks to get the ball to teammates quickly. She has good decision-making skills and could step up into a midfield role. She's got the quality on the ball to do well in that spot. She's been a key part of the Eagles squad, which has been competitive against the best teams in the country in this age group.     Signorile is an outside back on the So Cal Blues 2011 ECNL team. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. Signorile is one of the talented defenders on the Blues squad that has a number of elite prospects in the defensive roles - the depth is a reason for the teams reason success in Phoenix. Signorile is excellent on the ball. She is a talented dribbler with close control and excellent balance. She has the 1v1 skills on the ball to be considered among the top wingers in that class in that attribute. Signorile has quick feet and it shows both when on the ball and defensively. Signorile is a player who continues to impress at the ECNL level.     Horn is a defender on the Beach FC 2011 ECNL team. She is an outside back with good technique in her 1v1 quality. She's an excellent defender in space against wingers. She moves her feet well and keeps her balance. She's strong in the tackle and times her tackles well. Horn has been a key part of the Beach defense this season.     Snodgrass is a versatile player on the San Diego Surf 2011 ECNL team. She has been starting at center back for her club team recently. She looks excellent in that role. Surf asks a lot of the defenders in terms of tactical understanding and balance. Snodgrass' soccer smarts shine in that role. She's got all the potential to be an all-conference level talent at center back.     Beveridge is a defender on the Eagles 2011 ECNL team. She plays right back for her club team, but she can play a number of spots on the field including forward as well. She's an impressive athlete with a fluid running style. Beveridge's never quit attitude shows up on game film. She's one of those players who makes a ton of plays as a recovery defender. She's a good two-way player who makes     Wroblemski is an outside back on the Beach FC 2011 ECNL team. She can play either side of the formation. She's good with either foot and comfortable playing out of pressure. She's a good two-way player who plays with her head up. She can be a goal-scoring threat with her shooting from range. Wrobleski is a valuable versatile defender on the Beach squad.     Grosser is a center back on the LAFC 2011 ECNL team. She has been part of US Soccer Talent ID events in the past. Grosser and the LAFC squad is currently on a hot streak with a 4-2-2 record over their last eight games. The squad has been grinding out results in the fiercely competitive Southwest Conference. Grosser is asked to do a lot as the catalyst of the defense in the center of it. She has a strong work ethic, competitive spirit, and excellent all-around game. Grosser has big time potential and could end up as one of the top defenders in this class.
