Illinois 2030 Rankings Preview: Meet the Top Talent

The Prep Soccer state rankings for the Ilinois 2030 class will be released this week. Prior to the release of the full rankings, take a look at the top talent from the class in the initial rankings.    Rucka is always on a soccer field. She is playing for multiple teams this season. She's mainly playing for the Galaxy SC 2011 GA team. She is also guest playing for Indy Eleven in the ECNL. She's also got some playing time against the boys as well.   The additional hours on the field are certainly paying off. The midfielder for Galaxy is operating at a different speed than her peers. She's been highly rated as a young 2011 including earning looks for US Soccer scouts. Her play in the last few months has shown how much she's grown as a player during the season.   Rucka is an all-around player in the midfield. She's good on the ball. She's strong in the tackle. She can finish off either foot. She's got the engine to cover the full field. She's got all the tools to be a top player at the International level in the future.     Babcock is one of three players from the [program_tooltip program_id='283326' first='Eclipse' last='Select'] 2012 ECNL team to make the US Soccer Regional Mini-Camp roster. She's a midfielder who was also part of the US Club Soccer id2 National Camp.   Babcock is a do-it-all midfielder. She's skillful, competitive, and smart. She's always planning for the next play. She's a step ahead of her peers. She makes good moves off the ball to create space. She's been a consistent threat on goal during recent games with her ability to finish from outside of the box with either foot. She's primarily played in an attacking role for her club team so the position change is an interesting development for projecting her future.   She's an excellent passer and creative in the final third. She's quick to make decisions on the ball and shown excellent quality in the transition moments of the game. There is a path to her being an option as a wingback, but it's hard to imagine taking that quality away from the attack for her club team. She's also been part of the ODP at the regional level.   Cohoon is the leading scorer for her club team. An undeniable force in the attack, she can burst past defenders with her pace just as easily as she can bury a shot from distance. Cohoon appeared to be utilized in a number of different positions during recent ECNL games. The selflessness shined in that aspect as she took on every challenge her coach gave her during that game.   She is likely going to be deployed in the attack during the playoffs this summer and she will be one of the most dangerous players in that role from the 2012 games.     Vestal is a winger on the [program_tooltip program_id='283630' first='Chicago' last='[program_tooltip program_id='283346' first='FC' last='United']'] 2012 GA Team. She was part of the US Soccer Mini-Camp Regional event. Vestal was one of 10 players from Illinois to earn a spot on that roster.   The Girls Academy standout impressed with her ability on the ball and her clean technique in striking the ball. She is a nonstop threat on the goal. She can beat her defender with her first touch as she does an excellent job using body feints and creating space. She is a joy to scout with her ball control, skill, and flair. She's a different type of player than many in this class and has shown all the potential to be among the best in the nation in this age group.
